    Sanyo DP50740 weird lines

I got this tv for 50 dollars brought it home and plugged it in this is what I got.
Does this look like a bad panel Don't want to just toss money at it.
The buffers have no shorts and all the ICs look good.
    Thanks

That is most likely poorly seated ribbon cables on the Y-buffer board. Panasonic/LG/Samsung panel?
Easy fix, looks like someone may have replaced Y-buffer but couldn't seat ribbons proper.
Only adjust them with POWER OFF!!!

I reseated the cables but still the same. Is there a special way to seat them?

Post a picture of them. It varies with each type.

The x and y boards were replaced and the guy got pissed he had the lines on the screen.
There are no shorts on the buffer boards, and all volts are good . Could a bad cap make the lines?

Do you need a picture of the cable disconnected?

                    Re: Sanyo DP50740 weird lines

So, Panasonic panel. Those are the trickiest.

Basically, pull every ribbon out. Start from scratch.

Undo the latch (lift it), slide cable in. Two positions: first is the easy one, the obvious one. Avoid that. Second gives a little click. You want to hear/feel that click, and make sure it's perfectly lined up in the horizontal.

Do that for each ribbon, and it should be golden.

From experience (having done a couple of Panasonic panels), these are always buggers to get right.

Be very careful not to tear/damage the ribbon.

Tom66 its working thank you very much. I was ready to part this tv out. Its the click that I wasn't doing before very flimsy ribbons I didn't want to break them first time. Thanks again

Well yes this is a 720p panel vs 1080p Sony... so the Sony would look sharper. Panasonic plasma picture quality though is second to none once accurately calibrated.
