    LG TH-L42D25A vertical white strip

I have inherited a tv with a white vertical bar about 7 inches wide and looking for any advice about troubleshooting it. I have removed the back and re-seated the display cables with no change.
Checked the fuse, and did a visual check of the capacitors for bulging.

Below are a couple of pictures. The power and imaging are located one combined board.

While I am familiar with electronics as a hobby in younger years (dad was a Electrical Engineer) and handy with a soldering iron, I am not experienced in troubleshooting or repairs. I have a nice DMM and tool kit, and lots of patience!

Any pointers to start analyzing the unit would be gladly appreciated. Cheers, Allan

Looks like a bad LCD panel to me - not economically repaired.

We see these quite frequently now, it is due to water running down the screen, moisture build up or simple random panel failure (almost deliberate, it seems.)

Panasonic TV + electronics, LCD glass (what failed) provided by LG.

Simple lesson appears to be: do not buy an LED TV or modern LCD TV if you want long lifespan.

    Sorry...

Samsung QN65Q80AAFXZC QLED TV has a white vertical Bar
            by tech9pc
Hi all Happy Holidays! Was just wondering if you think this white vertical bar would be fixable. Maybe bad TCon or ribbon cable? Contemplating trading a 50 inch Hisense 4K Roku for the Samsung but might get burned lol. The Samsung is model QN65Q80AAFXZC QLED TV has a white vertical Bar. Any thought appreciated. Thanks.

            Hi There!
I'm trying to help my friend who owns a restaurant be just bought.
He has a very long LED strip running along all the walls and columns. The strip is attached facing down 2in above the floor, using a wall panel that ends in a metal rail that finishes the panel underneath
It's stuck using, I guess, the 2 sided tape that comes with the strip
The issue is that like 1/2 of the full length, including 1/2 one wall, another entire wall, and one column, flickers after 4 or 5 minutes ON. Particularly it flashes staying OFF most of the time and flashing ON for 1 tenth...

Partial Success Repairing Vertical White Bands on HP Z30i
            by lowteq
            Hello.

I was given a HP Z30i LCD computer monitor that had several white wide vertical bands on it. I had another Z30i that was working and after a lot of swapping of components I found that the logic board, TCON board and associated ribbon cables were healthy. The problem was the ribbon cables that go from a long slender PCB across the top of the panel onto the panel itself. The problem connection was on the PCB side not the glass panel side. These ribbon cables are attached with some kind of heat set adhesive.

I'm aware that this type of problem usually isn't repairable...

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help Needed🙏
            by Daren87
            Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...
