    RCA 47LA55RS Lcd tv

Feb. 2010 RCA 47LA55RS Lcd tv. Last year one thin horizontal black line appeared near top right corner of screen and went 3/4's the way across screen, simply was just there while tv operated otherwise normally. During this time a "pop" sound would occasionally take place and the tv would turn off. I'd simply pull the plug and wait a few minutes, plug tv back in and I'd have picture and sound again, black line still there.

A few days ago the picture went out completely but still had great sound. I researched youtube, google and this site and found the most reasonable assessment to be a master and/or slave inverter (which I've found both at the same price of $51.69 at shopjimmy's.com for my tv) but my two questions are which is the master and which is the slave inverter and can the tv show lines, now both vertical and horizontal once plugged back in and turned on, and it be the inverter(s) or would a or the bad inverter(s) show no image, not even just lines?

Thanks to all whom may assist me with this in advance.

from back with panel off: inverter on left 6632L-0581A
    inverter on right 6632L-0582A
which is which of those? Thanks.

Can a symptom of a bad inverter or bad inverters be that there is no picture other than both horizontal and vertical lines on screen?

Last night I unplugged one inverter at a time, leaving one inverter of the two fully plugged in, and then the tcon and with any of the three unplugged at one time there was a blank screen. With all three plugged in as normal there are both horizontal and vertical lines with a purple background displaying on the screen. Tv does produce sound.

I'm just trying to figure out what is wrong. I got a screaming deal on this tv new a few years back, would be a shame to throw it out if it can be relatively inexpensively repaired.

      Thank you.

The inverter is purely for the back light, bad inverter, no back light. As to your lines, that's likely to be a bad screen, notably bad tab bonds.

Screen does light up. I'll take some pics and post them if I can here in a bit so you all can see what I see.

Would that be a costly repair compared to an inverter, the tab bonds? Thanks.

I have the back of tv off, electronics exposed. When I touch and move either of the two inverters the lines on the screen change, goes blank and comes back on with lines.

A tab bonding fault is not always fixable. It's related to the connections on the edge of the glass becoming separated over time due to heat or mechanical flex. Your fault does look like tab bonds to me, or a bad LCD panel. May or may not be fixable.

                    Re: RCA 47LA55RS Lcd tv

Just got off the phone with shopjimmy's technical support. Tech said it is either the tcon (under $25) or the screen itself. If the screen, not worth it.

A bit of new info in the event it helps someone else, tech had me push the menu and input buttons to see if anything showed up. Nothing did, but screen flashed every time I touched a button, then screen went white with lines on it.

Diagnosis over the phone: bad tcon or screen.

                    Thanks for the help.

                      Hi guys

I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.

never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the...

Sony XBR-65X750D Horizontal lines bottom of screen
                      by ggil44
Hi, I have a Sony XBR-65X750D that has horizontal lines at the bottom 6 inches of the screen. These lines appear to be every other line because the picture is still quite visible behind those lines. The lines appear all the time with a few other lines above and below the 6 inch level blinking on and off at about 2 second intervals. I'm not sure if this is a panel issue or power supply/main board problem. I did replace the T-Con board without any change in the problem. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Sony XBR-85X950G Gray horizontal lines and vertical picture shift diagnosis?
                      by noisykid
5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

I just acquired this 3D LED yesterday and it has horizontal lines on a little more than half of the screen. When I first turn it on it has thin black lines going across that makes the image look serrated, and then shortly after patterns of thicker red lines fade in. If I turn it off and right back on it will reset to just the black lines and the red will again fade onto the screen.

I initially thought tab bonds, but flexing the bezel makes no difference, and the fact the image sort of resets after cycling power is different. I haven't opened it up yet to actually test applying...
