Panasonic TC-P42G25 10 Blink LED error

    Hi Everyone,

This is my "first" time posting so I will try to be as detailed as possible.

    *Problem*

My 3.5y/o Panasonic TC-P42G25 is not powering on and the LED is flashing a 10 blink error sequence.

    *Troubleshooting*

So far I have removed the rear panel and performed a visual inspection of the P, SS, SC, and A boards and do not see any evidence of blown/burned caps or fuses.

I have tried disconnecting the SC and SS boards from the P board (first one then the other then both) and powering it on to see if the blink sequence would change. It did not. I still get the "generic" 10 blink sequence regardless of whether the SC or SS boards are connected.

    *Observations*

The power on sequence with all boards connected is as follows:

    1. Plugin AC cord
    2. Immediate click-click followed by 13 second pause
    3. Single click sound followed by very faint ascending high frequency sound (guessing it is the capacitors charging). The high freq. sound lasts for a second or 2
    4. Press power button
    5. Immediate click-click, pause 2 seconds, single click, then LED Error code

The service manual indicates there are LEDs on the SC and SS boards however I do not see either LED lit up.

My gut feeling is telling me that this is most likely the P board, and though I consider myself somewhat technically savvy, this is my first foray into TV repair so I'd like a second opinion. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if any additional information is needed.

White ribbon disconnected too from the SC?

PSUs are generally pretty good, could be A, SC shorted very common fault.

TW2005 - First thank you for the troubleshooting guide. I knew it existed but I was having problems trying to find it through Google.

I didn't check the ribbon to the SC board. I will now.

Do you have the link or title of that thread? What model screen do you have since there can be variations even within the same model line?

A-board fuse location might be different. Can check that tomorrow. Bed time now...

Also as an update, the LED error sequence has changed from 10 blinks to 4 blinks. The repair training manual suggests the SC board as the 1st thing to check followed by the P board so i guess i will start there.

yes if 4 blinks I would certainly check VSUS on SC, SS for shorts, most common fault on these sets.

Ditto. search TNPA5081 in this forum if you're into component level repair and a risk taker

One quick question, where is the chassis ground located? Is it on the AC cord box?

Chassis ground is also the metal back plate of the plasma display panel.

Well as you guys predicted, the SC board is the cause of the failure. The part seems impossible to track down online without spending at least $200. There is an authorized repair shop nearby, I may check with them to see what kind of price they can give me for the board.

I'm also going to check the forums for component level repair.

                          Thanks for your help!

I recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.

So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...

                                Hi everyone,

I'm new here and trying to repair my Panasonic TX-P50V10E plasma TV, which is currently showing the 6 red blink error code.

Just for context: I'm used to building PCs and installing modchips in old consoles, but this is my first time trying to fix a TV. I'm French, and while my English is okay, I'm using ChatGPT to help translate and clarify my messages as much as possible — so please forgive any odd phrasing.

I'm also not very experienced with using a multimeter, but I'm very motivated and ready to follow instructions carefully and report...

Years ago my tv gave a 7 blink code which turned into 8 during diagnosis. I had ordered a replacement ss board but somehow the tv started working again and i never used the board. Now a week ago my tv flickered and shut off at random and gave the 8 blink error code. The same issue it had all those years ago. The only difference this time is that over the last few months there has been some purple and green tinge that comes and goes in more solid colors such as white.

Anyway i checked all the screws and replaced the ss board with a known good one and still got 8 blinks. I saw a...

Greetings from SoCal I am new to this forum but not new to forum world. I come from Automotive end of side which is my main passion in life. Give the automotive nature, I love fixing and restoring things and I have in the past fixed many simple electronics, soldering, etc.. but this is a bit more involved so I found this forum, and I am very glad I did.

I picked up a Panasonic TC-P60VT60 with the 7 BLINK error.
Upon removing the back plate I found spider webs, dead spiders, and an amazing amount of dust. I did my best to clean the surface of the boards with a portable vacuum...

I aquired this Panasonic 60" plasma around the time my first child was born. It was meant to be a project tv, hoping to fix it chipping away at the repair in my free time. Well that was 2 years ago and i'm really just getting around to making a sincere effort to see if I can ressurect this beast.

The symptoms of the tv ar as follows:
                                • Plug AC in to back of TV
                                • After about 2 seconds the relay on the P-sub board will click on and then a fraction of a second later it clicks back off
                                • The 3 blink code is given by the power LED
                                • If the TV is unplugged and then
