you measure before the LED socket and reported 3V AC,,, this is wrong with TV repair always we measure V DC. with references to TV chassis
so put your DM ob V DC and fix it t the pin of the sockets at power bards side BL_ERR the no 4 one at the second row , easy to find.... with ref. to TV chassis.... plug the TV in wall to power it up... read the low and the high value it show on this pins and report back

Diah wtf man. How am I supposed to get my pin on the 2nd row of that connector? If you want me to get it with the plug connected that seems impossible. It’s buried underneath the 1st row of pins.

Do you want me to measure with the plug CN6401 disconnected?

Ok Diah. I have tested to the 4th pin on the bottom row of the plug and I got 3.4v Dc on power up. Instantly and it maintained. With no fluctuations.

If I try to plug the female end into the connector and test Diah, the margin of error to potentially short across to other pins is less than a millimetre. This seems impossible.

Yes Diah is impossible to get meter pin in between top row of pins to be able to test on second row.

Ok Diah here is photos of power board and main board. Please don’t tell me you need photos also of T-con board as this would require me removing bezel etc to get down to backlight panel and that is something I could not do at moment as telly is at home and I would need assistance from someone at work to help me.

                              okay..
1- remove the metal cover of the T-CON to have access to T_CON ( don't forget to let the T-CON boards screwed to TV Chassis )
2- power on the TV and check if there 12V on F1 Fuse from both side on the T-CON Boards if yes
3- disconnect one ribbon cable from T-CON to panel at time and power on the set check if BL come on and the screen show half screen.. do it for both side at time

Ok Diah I have found F1 fuse on T-con board. Continuity test is good so fuse is ok. Can you point me to where I should be testing for 12v dc? I tried with reference to chassis but this gave me 0v. I want to be sure this is where you wish me to test.

Or is there somewhere else on T con board I need to test to?

                                    NO
if the fuse to chassis 0V mean mainboards didnt send signal t-con_on... so we need now to do this test

testing power boards and T-CON and panel as standalone
1- disconnect the sockets between Power boards and Mainboards ( from mainboards side )
2- disconnect the 2 LVDS cable between Mainboards and T-CON ( from T-CON side )
3- if you have 1K R use it in case you don't have.. you need to recheck the pins points bellow 3 time to be sure they are correct.

                                    4- we connect

STBY3.3V ----1KR ---- to all together pins POWER_ON & BL_ON & TCON_ON then plug in wall check the screen if iz come on..... and check if there all Volts on sockets REG12V ( 12V) and on T-CON fuse 12V

Ok I think I’m understanding you now Diah. Keep T-con board screwed to chassis so I can test F1 fuse reference to chassis.

This gave 0v Dc so it seems we have fault here yes? If you can advise of next test I will try tomorrow to follow on. Is nearly 9pm now and I will soon be sending you invoice for overtime charges LOL.

you can flip the power boards the pin which always 3-3V are the STBY pin... the others pin easy to locate them as you have the print chart of the sockets at the top of the boards

I just removed the back cover to test the backlights because when I first plug it in it will flash once and then start dark but I can see the image. I got 131v on string 1 and 167v on string 2. Usually when I get a bad set the meter reads 300v and they won't light up. When testing, each set lights up inside the tv. When I plug in the power and check the leads with my multimeter both strings are only about 3v.

Does this difference in voltage between the strings indicate that the lesser has bad LEDs? Or is it normal that they are not the same voltage? I've read some about this tv and...

Diagnosed this TV as having a failed main board which I've replaced with one from a KDL 55HX850. They are (supposedly) the same board.

Being 'Smart TV' it requires a firmware reboot when you swap out boards such as T-Con or main board. It starts with a black screen and flashing yellow and green LEDS, indicating it needs that firmware boot. The procedure described all over the web is to put the software into the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB drive and it should load that up once plugged into USB1 port. But not for me. I can see the LED on the USB chip flash for about...
