Seem to be more of these TVs and similar models with LED strip faults. It'd be nice if they could put an xmas light system in parallel, which blows short circuit when an LED fails. A high voltage zener could work; when they overheat, they fail short circuit. So putting a ~30V zener in parallel would lead to many watts dissipated in the zener, causing it to short. But I don't think that'd be reliable enough.

Glad you fixed it, but wonder what caused those four to fail.

My first thought was cleaning but they are at the top of the panel unless someone used a very wet cloth at the panel edges which is highly unlikely

      it will remain a mystery

Were they all in a chain, or just randomly spread around? If in a chain, one might have failed, got hot, and damaged the others nearby... but that doesn't sound very likely. It's also possible, I suppose, that the board flexed slightly from heat and cracked the LEDs. Again, I think that'd be a rare occurrance.

They were not all chained mate there was 1 then 4 worked then 2 then all the rest except the end one so was a funny pattern of fried leds lol

Need to get hold of one of these myself and perform an engineering failure analysis!

Thanks for the update - looks like "I'm going in" ! Couple of questions...

To get to the led's the panel/diffuser etc. must be removed ?

How do you test the led's themselves and were they shorted or open (I'm guessing open or the other led's would still work but with a little more voltage) ?

I'm sure I have the same problem.

                Hey guys,

I referred to this post a few months back, and determined that the issue didnt appear to be the 2 large capacitors in my case (I changed them), so bought a replacement main board which arrived today.

The issue that I'm having is that the TV is asking for me to change some service menu settings; Type, Local Set, and Front Color Option

All of which can be found under the service menu under the first option. Mine are all currently 'None', which obviously isn't correct.

Do any of you have access to a UE40D5520 (it's a UK set from what I understand, and where I bought it too).

The panel information is: LD400BGC-C2 DD01

Let me know what you can find

Forgot to post some accompanying images. Maybe they'll help?

The main one is the screen with Type & Local Set set to None, and the the setting for Front Color

mmartell, you didn't post the solution on your problem (if you found it) I'm having the same problem, fluctuating voltages on psu board except 1x 5V which is steady. replaced the PWN controller, another std by IC (7011) (CP801S), checked all caps, replaced C901S 14pin IC nothing.. I'm running out of options (and hope)on this one!

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Upgrading a Samsung ue55nu7096u with logic board from an ue55ru7105k -- good idea?
                      by ohren
I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.

I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.

The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively....

                      by H34TO
Recently I've gotten into EC flashing due to my broken laptop(s) and started frantically searching methods for flashing the IT5571E-128 chip on the cheap(due to me beaing a student and not having a job) and noticed that ITE newer chips can be flashed via ISP (In-System Programming) either via SMBus or the KBC (EPP - Enhanced Parallel Port) interface. While these can be achieved with programmers like SVOD4/3 or the RT809H/F those options are WAYYY out of my budget so I was horrified. But recently I stumbled uppon some programmers on aliexpress that claim they can program a variety of ITE chips...

                      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

LED light flashing trying to fix LED driver board
                      by Welchs101
Hi i have an LED garage light. It has two bulbs/strips of led lights in it. One of the bulbs is flashing. I dissassembled the light to get to the LED driver board.

                      i am enclosing pictures.

given that one works and the other does not (ie...flashing) i thought i should be able to fix this.....or at least determine what is wrong.

the led driver board basically had "two" drivers on the same board. I began probing using my multimeter trying to find differences between the two. Now there may be diff i did not find but one difference i did find was...
