Panasonic TH-42PZ700U Horizontal bar - Expert advice needed

    Hi,

I'm trying to help a widow friend of mine with her television. It is a Panasonic TH-42PZ700U that has a horizontal bar about 5" wide the entire width of the screen. She said that originally it started from left to right and would go away - now it's always there. The set was manufactured in 2007. Sound is ok, bar is present on all the inputs.
I've attached a photo showing the issue.
I know very little about plasma tv's.
Please don't ask for photos of the boards. The set is wall mounted and she is continuing to watch the set.
If you are familiar with this problem in this particular set please respond.
She is considering a new television if it's a panel problem or not economical to repair.
    Thanks.
    Mike

Without any testing or removing the back, I thinks its the Pannel/COF because it goes across the entire width of the screen

Need a better close up picture of the fault are there lines between black lines? At first glance I would say its a buffer board issue on the Y sustain

in Panasonic lingo look at the SC board and there are SU and SD boards connected to it one of those boards most likely the SD bored a buffer chip might have gone bad

Could also be a loose panel connector.

Thanks to everyone for their input.
I looked through the other photos I took but none show enough detail of the screen problem. I think that there were fine lines within the horizontal bar.
Looks like I will have to make another trip to her house and examine the fault.

Ebay has some boards listed - is it the TNPA4253 that might be the culprit?
          Here is a listing.

I've had this problem at the top of the screen on a plasma previously but was completely black, I found it was a loose connector connecting the screen to the side boards

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ700U Horizontal bar - Repaired!

              Hi,

Just repaired the Panasonic TH-42PZ700U that had the horizontal bar issue.
I replaced the lower y-buffer board - part number TNPA4253.
There is vendor on Ebay selling that board for $19.95 + $8 shipping. It is listed under the Panasonic number TXNSD1HJTA. Shipping was fast. Highly recommend this vendor.
Be very careful that you get ribbon cables positioned correctly and don't do it with the power on!
Thanks to all that offered advice.

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks
                by Andre Gilbert
Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Problem with PANASONIC CF53 laptop after changing BIOS settings
                by AquaMan Ua
Hello. I am asking you for a hint on how to solve the problem with my touchbook Panasonic CF53-2 standart model. After setting up the BIOS, the laptop displays the wrong image until Windows loads. (More precisely, it displays, but distorted, instead of the Panasonic image immediately after turning it on, it displays what is in photo #1 in the attached file) Then the image appears when Windows starts loading and then there are no problems with the screen until the reboot. If you enter the BIOS, just a black screen. If you connect an external screen, the image on it is the same as on the built-in...

                by Ihandyrepair
                Hi guys

I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.

never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the...

                hello guys,

got a panasonic tv lcd 42E5X series, totaly dead after storm lightning
on inspection, the fault seems to came from motherboard
hdmi chip tmds361B si totaly fried (big hole in center), have to search on service manual to know which chip it is lol

don't see any damage at inspection, do you think it is valuable to buy and replace or this motherboard became just a crap ?
