Test patterns can be done without the main board involved at all. See here:

                      Re: samsung pn42c450b1d

You always swap BOTH X and Y-main at the same time... never separately.

Hey guys, I'm experiencing the same issue! Any update to what happened? I ordered a used X-main and Y-main off ebay, but that didnt solve the issue. When I power up the TV, I hear the Samsung tone, but no image, no menus, no nothing... I tried the test patterns last night and still nothing. Please help. I'd love to get this set working!

BTW it said both were in working condition on eBay before they were removed. Should I return these and order from shopjimmy?

                            Thanks again!

Does your plasma panel have a subtle glow or is it completely dark?

I got in touch with tech support at shopjimmy. they had me order a new y-buffer and y-sustain. I hope this solves the issues.
