    Phillips 42PFL7422D/37

Hi all, my son decided to turn on his TV in the afternoon for some gaming, and this is what the picture looked like. He said it was fine when he turned it off the night before. I have left it unplugged for 24hrs, and also set the tv back to default, but picture looks the same. Any ideas?

There is - you would need a digital multimeter. Can you post pictures of your meter, and of the circuit boards in the chassis, with the back cover removed?

Sorry, was called away this weekend. Here is my Meter, and a few pics of the exposed boards.

the t-con board is at the top middle under the metal casings and it attaches to the mainboard at the top left with a bunch a tiny wires going into a connector the mainboard is the 3rd pic you have posted. he is probably gonna have you check some parts on the t-con board which you will have to remove those casings to get at. which will require you to remove the power board which is attached to the cover over the t-con board.

there are a couple t-con boards on e-bay if you are gonna replace it you are still gonna need to know the numbers off it so you can find the right match for your panel. all 3 of them for that model tv are under $45 but they are all different until you know which 1 you have in your tv to get the right 1. either way your gonna have to remove those casings.

Your T-con board is buried right inside the TV - awkward.

It's at the top of this picture, where the connector goes into, under a metal frame.

If you can have the TV functional but be able to access the board, then the t-con can be tested and verified to be the fault. However, if that is not possible, you would have to just swap out the board (taking a chance that it is t-con; I'd say about 80% confidence.)
