hi there just looking for some advice, bought this plasma from someone who said he it was stuck on standby (solid blue light on front panel)he got a technician to look at the tv and told him it needed a repair kit.when i got the tv home i removed the back cover and saw the ysus to power supply cable was disconnected so i reconnected the cable and powered up again.but after a minute could smell burning from the ps board so i disconnected the power and now all i get is a solid red light on front of tv ,if i press the standby button the tv clicks and red light goes out .i have tested vs and va voltages (with x and y boards disconnected)and both voltages just fall to zero.it looks as if someone has replaced the caps but the soldering looks poor.i have tested with esr meter and all caps look ok.

Re: philips 50pfp5532d/05 dead with red light
i have been looking at the powerboard and found what looks like there has been some burning on the board, also the cap which i have marked should be a 820uf but when measured (desoldered from board) is only 480uf with esr of 13 ohm.could this be the cause of the dead power supply.
thanks for your help. -
Re: philips 50pfp5532d/05 dead with red light
That looks like heat discolouration which isn't necessarily a fault but that capacitor is not flush to the board? Has it bulged? Yes with that high ESR it could easily cause your fault! Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

thanks tom for the reply ,the cap is removed from the board on the picture.i just left it there for the picture.could this cap alone cause the loss on voltage on the psu.Comment

Re: philips 50pfp5532d/05 dead with red light
sorry tom, my mistake the esr was 0.13 ohms, the cap is rated at 100v 820uf but the esr meter is only saying 497uf.
thanks again for the help tom.Comment

by esqmoooHello everyone.
This is my development machine. I've been using it since two years and half without any problem except sometimes it wouldn't wake up from sleep.
Lately the issue became more frequent and powering it up would take few seconds to show the POST screen.
Then the computer refuses to power on at all. Now only the caps lock button flashes 7 times then stops. The charging light is always on whenever a power source is connected (battery or charger).
I tried long pressing on the power button, after several seconds it would go off then when the button is released... -
by PatanNeed help here...
I'm new on the forum and I'm not professional in electronics so i ask sorry in advance for eventual errors...
As title says, i have a LA-H323P dead.
Now, little background.
The computer was working fine, just seems that the cable of screen was dying because it had the classic color problem, sometimes green, sometimes violet, sometimes perfect, but anyway working.
When i opened it the battery was so fat that was seriously near to explode.
So i removed the battery... and turned on the notebook... that was, again, working perfectly fine....11 Photos -
by Rav_tangleHi all , thanks for having me & I think this has been asked before but my case seems a bit odd.
I have a MacBook Pro , board 820-2915a and it turns on , chimes etc etc , keyboard lights up, fans spins , can turn caps lock on/off but screen is dead.
Iv tried the resets , shine torch through back logo , nothing , it seems the screen has no power. If I plug charger , it charges but if I disconnect battery it displays green light but won't turn on. Iv tried screen on with another board & it works & seems I'm not getting any voltage at pin 2 , next to ground pin .

by mecha1166I have a XR-77A80K here. When plug in & press power, white lindicator light flashes on & off. about 30 seconds later, indicator light flashes 8x red. Checked Sony, Power reset = unplug & plug in. Factory reset involves turning it on, then pressing remote buttons when a picture shows. Well, neither of these "resets" are for a dead set like this. Anyone know what 8 blinks indicates, from the schematic? Thanks!
