ASUS G531GW Rev 1.6 – Shorted CPU? Any Hope for Repair?
    by Ruts
    Hey everyone,

I have an ASUS G531GW Rev 1.6 laptop with what seems to be a shorted CPU. I took a thermal image while powering it on, and as you can see in the picture, only a small part of the CPU area heats up instantly. The laptop doesn't boot, no display.

I'm wondering—does this mean the CPU is completely dead, or is there any possible fix?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

HP ProBook 650 G8 - HP Wolf Security f*%&up. Insane bug, is there any hope?
    by silencer51
A client has one of these laptops. She uses it as a personal machine and had left everything on defaults. These laptops come included with a slew of zero-trust based security 'enhancements'. One day, after a Windows update, somehow the Pre-Boot Authentication safeguard was triggered, and since then the laptop has been asking not for her Windows password, but for the password of the temporary profile that Windows creates during updates (defaultuser0, defaultuser1 etc.)

Per Microsoft documentation, this is a hidden profile with a randomly generated password. And somehow, the preinstalled...

Any hope for a dead RTX4000 GPU?
    by jayjr1105
This was a garbage freebie from work. A small component (maybe a VRM?) just went up in smoke (see pics). I contacted PNY and pushed pretty hard but they denied my RMA claim saying it could had been a surge from the PSU that made that component fry. I thought about getting an attorney involved for some type of small claims deal but I'm not sure it's worth it. It's well known in the community that PNY pulls this crap for RMA's. The client machine is operating just fine with the same power supply with the new card but they simply won't budge.

Anyways, going forward with it. Is there...

Panasonic 55DX600u repair help - no display fast green then slow red led flash
    by fixxy88
Hi everyone. I've been given a dead Pana 55DX600u that I hope to save from landfill. I suspect the tcon board or UC1 on that board.

Set will flash green led and attempt to start, backlight gives a brief flash then set shuts down and red led flashes slowly. Voltages out of PSU look ok. TCon board gets 12v at fuse when attempting to start and 3.3v on L1 but main IC gets warm very quickly (heatsink/cover removed, felt with back of hand) during the second or two the 12v is applied before PSU shuts down. TVS diodes on lvds input lines are not shorted, no caps appear to be shorted. ...

Did I Screw Up? Any Hope for Success? Programming BIOS CHIP
    by elzorroazul777
Before I go further down the rabbit hole, I'd like to know if I have created a dead-end in my repair process. I am attempting to reflash my Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 2's BIOS chip after a power interruption corrupted the BIOS data during an update.

I do not have backups of the data I pulled off the chip using a CH341A 24 25 Series EEPROM https://www.amazon.com/Organizer-Soc...Q%3D%3D&sr=8-5

    I also wrote to the...
