    samsung picture problem

    Hi
I have a samsung plasma 50' PS50c96hd about 5 years old and just lately after the tv has been on for about 2 hours or so the picture goes off and on intermittently, but I still have sound. I have checked for loses cables etc, and all looks fine in that regard.
I was wondering if would be some kind of heat related problem, any advice would be great

    Regards

    Dave

Tab bonds possibly, try taking each top corner of the set in your hands and gently flexing the tv while switched on... does it reproduce the fault?

Personally I wouldn't try to flex a plasma, glass is inherently brittle so you could end up cracking the screen. To me this sounds like Y-sus board issue, I've fixed a similar issue before by changing some bad diodes but I'm certainly not qualified to give good advice so I'd wait till someone comes along who know's their stuff, Tom66 is a good example.

I meant very gently... I have done it many times without ever breaking a panel

The warming up period is what makes me think panel... bonds warm and break contact.

Tom66 is one to listen to mindya, knows his stuff!

First off lets get rid of some confusion. this us a plasma tv the op has. Is there still sound when this happens? You said it does so im thinking possible sustain board issue or control board. Going to have to take the back cover off for testing.

Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Hie techs, I have a samsung plasma TV which when plugged in shows a very dull reddish image. Tested some voltages and below is what I get:

Samsung UN55MU8000 - Backlight But No Picture Problem
            by KYBOSH
            Hello all

I pick this up free as a repair project for the holidays.
The original symptom was power cycling after 3-4 seconds with a single red light flash.

To remedy this I went through and unplugged each component 1x1 and discovered that when the FFC cables were disconnected the backlights stayed on and the TV did not reboot.

I tried remove one or the other to see which side of the display was causing the issue (expecting to see half a picture to show) but didn't see anything. But the boot loop only appears when the top FFC cable (right side...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
            by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

            Hello all,

This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side. I finally fixed the reboot cycle by finding the error on the left side of the screen off connector CN 1301, and the TV would stay on. Further troubleshooting led me to the driver boards where...
