    42pc3dv Zsus Question

Hi guys, have a 42pc3dv that I think I have a bad Zsus on. Sometimes I can get it to power on with Y and Z plugged in, but it's not powering on properly right now. Either way, I get the same result as when I unplug the Zsus board. I've attached a picture of what I'm getting on the screen when it's powered on. Obviously only half of the screen is showing, but the half that is working isn't complete, so I was wondering if that would be normal. If you look at the top-right corner, you'll see it's a little bit blacked out even on the good side. And the menus/channel listing isn't crisp. Just wanted to make sure this is normal and would point to the Zsus board being bad (it's heatsink is cool to the touch, whereas the Ysus heatsink is warm). Also, when it was powering on with both boards plugged in, the screen split wasn't directly down the middle like in the picture, it was not a straight line.

    Thanks for the help!

    Re: 42pc3dv Zsus Question

Does the picture I attached look like what the symptoms might be with only the Ysus board attached? There's definitely something wrong with the Zsus, just wanted to make sure that with Ysus only attached it would still be grainy in the menus and a little black in the corner on the good side.

That looks like Z-sustain Vs and Va fuse blown. Z-sustain provides left hand side Va (for image) and common electrode supply (for good picture across whole panel.)

        Re: 42pc3dv Zsus Question

I did check the 2 fuses on the Zsus board and they're good, so I'm guessing the whole Zsus board needs to be replaced (or the hybrid chip under it). Does that sound about right to you? I do see some bulging caps on the power supply board that I'll replace for sure, but from what I understand the fact that it turns on when that board is unplugged and it also has a cold heatsink it is probably the board itself, you think? Thanks for the help tom66!

Can you see a place to check Vzbias (or Vzb) voltage? What do you read?

Metod for removing glued heatsink from fragile component
            by harp
I have peltir element glued to heatsink with something thick and sticky like putty... it cant be separate with force or heat without risk of breaking ceramic or damaged semiconductor layers due to force (eg if try twisted, pulled, lifted)... method that I am using is a single thread for needle (thin and firm thread of pure polyester that cant break with bare hands without glowes), and using it like a saw between heatsink and peltir. I holding a heatsink with knee against table. It slowly cut throug putty and release glued parts. It is slow proces, but preserve undamaged component and heatsink....

LG 60PB6650 - Bad ZSUS (3.8v to YSUS instead of 16v)?
            by JDC
            Make and Model: LG 60PB6650-UA
Issue: Turns on, no backlight, can hear static (no channel)

I've been repairing TVs for a couple years now. I know how to use a multimeter for the most part and know how to test most components for shorts.

The power board connects to the ZSUS and then connects to the YSUS. The ZSUS is where I believe the failure is because the 16v line is only 3.8V, even when I disconnect the ZSUS from the YSUS.

This particular model seems to have a common failure with its YSUS. My goal earlier was to prove the YSUS was bad so I could...

Seeking Advice on Enhancing Heatsink for Main Processor on SAMSUNG TV Motherboard
            by Ven
            Hello everyone,

I'm looking to upgrade the heatsink on the main processor of my TV's motherboard for better cooling performance.

The current heatsink is a square-shaped one (2.8cm x 2.8cn) with a basic design, and I believe a more efficient heatsink could help with thermal management and potentially extend the life of the TV.

I'd appreciate any advice on the best type of heatsink to use, specific product recommendations, and tips for installation.

If you've done a similar upgrade, I'd love to hear about your experience and any challenges you...

LG 42PC3 buffer output doesn't follow YSUS
            by legg
LG42PC3D -UD originally with green lamp but no display or audio.
Owner says was working, then went 'pop'.
            All 5V caps bulging. replaced.
All PSU output voltages within spec but -Vy is low on YSUS.
One of three parallel fets between SUS_OUT and SUS_DN is zenering,
eventually shorts DG. Replaced all 3 - -Vy now OK.

Y scan buffer test point does not follow YSUS output below -50V

Note: This unit seems to expect YSUS output to park at -Vy in between
drive signal pattern periods. A replacement drive signal board confirms this....

LG 55UH6150- trouble powering up, then half lit screen (pictures!)
            by valvashon
The 55" LG has been in the basement for a few months without being used. Turned it on yesterday, set came on as it should and showed a complete screen for about 5 seconds (was on a broadcast channel but no antenna was connected), then the screen went mostly dark with about 1/3 of the screen on the right lighting up with brighter lines in that lit part (sorry, no pictures of that). Power LED was cycling too, preventing the TV from fully powering up.
Pulled the back off, all boards looked OK. Pulled the LED connector, turned the set on to see if it would power up but I don't belive it...
