Toshiba Regza 37A3030D - clicks on then off

    Hi there,

This old Toshiba clicks on from standby. Backlight does not light up, then about 10 seconds later the PSU relay clicks again and it shuts down.

There's 24V at the inverter board when it's on, and other voltages seem correct. How do I narrow down whether it's backlights, inverter, main-board or PSU causing it to click off again?

I had a 37Z3030D with this issue, had main board fault.

Thanks Tom. Is there anything I can to to verify that it's a main board fault this time? Or can we just assume it is?

My 46XV540U has the similar problem. I think mine does have backlight. It is very light though. With the back cover off I can see the light coming out of the edge. Mine seems to have all the proper voltages and the voltage changes as I expect except may be the audio voltage is higher than marked 18V.

With the digital receiver board disconnected I found that power stayed on, and managed to fire up the backlight with a resistor between 5V and on/off on the inverter. Glad I did because with the lights on I can see now that the LCD panel is cracked. Guess I'll be selling some parts again - the PSU and inverter at least. No way to tell if the rest works.
