If you had 24V before make sure all your jumpers are in place like the ones for STBY ON/OFF...

I'll try and have a look at this tomorrow. Bump up the post if I forget.
I do remember when I jumpred the backlight on the 26" 17PW25-4 it flickered for the first 3 seconds... I think it wanted to stabilise the output first which the main board would normally wait for.

OK, so to confirm, the backlight is flickering continuously? What is the 24V doing? Is it stable?

i can short the backlight to come on but it just flickers using
pin 6 STBY_ONOFF
pin 8 BL_ON/OFF
pin 10 B_DIM
pin 12 +12V
yes the 24v is stable i can only get the backlight to flicker by touching pin 12 with a wire ,if i leave the wire in pin 12 then it trys to start backlight but it fails so i have to keep shorting pin 12 to make the backlight flicker
What about if you also connect pin 28 on the connector going to the main board?
This is by far and away the most complicated backlight jump I have ever seen, it is usually very simple, I cannot think why it would not work.

ok again tom thanks for your help ill leave this for a rainy day got my latest project bought 4 days ago PHILIPS 47PFL7603D/10 for £30 supposed to keep cutting out but still waiting for this to happen
yeah thats a different psu with the built in blue caps that runs the invertor ive changed them before and fixed this but this tv is a different version with the invertor board seperate
I can't remember which is pin 1, to check you would need to find the 5 grounds which hang off pin 1, for some reason Vestel have seen fit not to label it!! Ugh.!
