32 inch lcd SWI-J32/3CG FSP212-3F02 power supply fault

hi guys just been asked to look at this set its a Swisstec type quite old but good condition any way its uses the FSP212-3F02 power supply i replaced most of the capacitors on the secondary side with Panasonic fc the other about five tested good esr wise so i left them any way turned set on was working great for a good half hour plus then set just went off no sound no picture still had blue led on the front like the tv was in on state its red when on standby any way tested psu when running all voltages were ok now in the fault condition i have no 12 volt and no 24 volt only the 5 volt is present now i have been reading up on this and have found this good thread

now it says to replace the transistor q11 i can use a 2N4403 as a replacement what i am trying to ask can these fail intermittently ie when warm i have no freeze spray/air duster at home at the minute so cant test that but could this little transistor be the issue? it was on one minute fine then just went off no sound no picture but led stayed in the on state cheers

budm in your photo bucket pics you have repaired one of these with q7 and zd04 fault no 5 volts now mines missing 12 and 24 volts only so im going to replace q11 do i need to change a zener diode as well if so which one is it?

last project for today i have decided to use a mlt668 psu instead of the original psu traces lifted etc so i just need to know where to connect last few wires to does the mlt need any jumper from standby pin as i only have on off on the old psu or will the mlt668 start up ok just using the ps on pin?

I am not sure about the Q11. The MLT ps_on PIN is the same as the FSP ps_on pin so you can take that PS_ON signal from the main board to feed you MLT.
There are other 2 signals (bl_on and DIM) that are routed through the FSP board, so you need to also connect those two pins so the signals will get to the inverter board.

question guys this ps does not power on with just the ps on wire on replacement psu but when i connect the 5vsb to ps ok it all works ok as in turns on and of manually and turns on and off by the remote ok goes in to standby also ok can i just link these two wires safely cheers vince.

"ps ok": Is that pin lable on the FSP or on the MLT? I do not see PS OK pin the the ML diagram you provided.

sorry bud the new mlt has a ps on pin like the fsp but the mlt will only work when i connect the ps on and 5vsb pins permanently together the old fsp did not have a 5vsb pin on it. seems to be working ok like i have it is there any risks in voled it has got a mains on off switch by the power lead connector goes in and out of standby ok colours change on led from orange to blue ok.

The FSP does have 5VSTBY, it is labeled as 5VS (5 VOLT STANDBY) pin 7~9 of CNS1, PIN 10 is the PS_ON.

so bud to clarify please all three wires from old fsp connector 7 8 9 5vs all really need to go to the 1 pin 5vsb on the mlt? cheers bud

FSP CNS1 PIN 7~9 (5VS) should all go to PIN 6 (+5VSB) CON4 of the MLT.
FSP CNS1 PIN 10 (PS_ON) should go to PIN 5 (POWER-ON) CON4 of the MLT.
PIN 7~8 (+5V 3A) CON 4 of MLT are not used, they are switched 5V.

PIN 7~8 (+5V 3A) CON 4 of MLT are not used, they are switched 5V.

thanks bud all works great and i feel safe its been done correctly now soldered joints and heat shrink over any joins spare wire ends etc cheers again vince.

Glad to hear. Can you show me that Q11 of the FSP? I would like to know what that one is for.

i will take some macro shots of another fsp i have its all ready had the q11 replaced but sill no 12 and 24 volts i might try to repair it if you want to lend a hand its a spare faulty psu i brought from ebay has been re capped with panasonics as well but i may need to do the 5 volt mod fix on it as well as when tried on this set i have just repaired the standby led was pulsing will upload some macro pics tomorrow as its 7.40 pm here and very dark.
