    Wharfedale LCD47F1080P Intermittent Sound

    Got this set last night as it was cheap

    Fault described to me was the screen goes off every now and then and sometimes doesn't come on at startup, funnily enough i've had it on for a few hours and experienced none of that

    But have experienced loss of audio like it comes and goes if you turn the volume up and down to get it to come back on

    Looks like a vestel set, can't see any bulging caps but the psu does have capxon caps which do go bad from what I can see

    could these cause the audio on off issue?

      now have what seems no audio through the speakers

      tested the headphone jack which works fine

          replaced 2 caps on the audio amplifier board (i think) 2 35v 1000uf caps and the audio now works with no drop outs

          @tom66 i seen your video for the hitachi with the same fault and essentially the same tv, I know you added in a 1k resistor for q1 and you added that there was no disadvantage to this, did you try and replace caps first?

              so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

              i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

              Good day ladies and gentleman!

              I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

              This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

              I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

              I have been asked to check out a faulty Bose Wave system belonging to a relative. The faulty unit produces loud intermittent pops and crackles. Sometimes there is speaker audio output (FM/AM, CD etc.), most of the time there isn't. This behaviour degraded over time fairly quickly, to the current situation where no sound is put out at all. Gently messing and wiggling wires, connectors or heatsink has no effect in force-replicating the problem.
