Just a quick question for the tecks here. I want to buy a hot air station, and wanted to know if a X-Tronic #4040 Is a good station to rework ICs I never did any hot air work. Will I need to practice or is it plug and play?

Most likely it will work just fine, but I don't think that the soldering iron is any good.
I have another cheapo one, with the fan and heater element in the handle, so no hose going from the main unit to the handle unit.
It works just fine, never had any issues. Do not hold it in one spot, circle with it all the time. Do not set the temperature to high. I used kepton tape around the ICs that I'm removing, to don't un-solder or blow off other components.
I'm setting mine at 375 degree.
If I would have to buy it again, I would buy a simple unit, without iron.

The iron is a big step up from the crap I had before and the wand, well that takes some getting used to. Comes with a nice assortment of accessories as shown.
All in all I was happy with the purchase considering the price.
