Hi, I was hoping someone here could help me answer some questions. I have a samsung pn50c680 plasma tv and a small black line just popped up the other day on the screen. The TV is about 3-4 years old and gets used pretty frequently.
This black line seems to look as if the pixels are not lit. The black line appears behind menus and is located about 3 inches down from the top of the screen. It runs horizontally across the entire screen and appears to be only a single pixel wide (very thin line).
I have read over some of the guides posted here by tom66 and several other posts around the web and what I have concluded is that this could possibly be due to having a faulty connection between the ribbons that connect the display to the y-sustain board.
I have not yet pulled the back of the tv off to try and reseat the ribbons but that will be the first thing I try. If it is not the connections themselves, is it most likely faulty circuitry on the y-sustain board?
Or...are these the early symptoms of a failing plasma panel ?
Also, the tv had some very light and almost unnoticeable reddish bleeding in the upper right corner area...this occurred sporadically through the last year of ownership. It was only noticeable on black or very dark screens and even then it was feint.
Thanks for any help and input! Much appreciated!
