It has a fault where it switches on then off again straight away and stays in stand-by mode.

Generally with a shutdown the front panel LED should blink out a code. If it's shutting down with no blinks there may be a short on the PSU and my first suspect would be the SC board shorting out the PSU.

Hi futurespec.
Have you seen if fans are working?
Try to clean them.
Also please tell us if the led blinks and how it does so.
