    samsung ln46a650

    Hi everyone
I need some help with this one . This tv will run for 1/2 hour and inductor l-102 gets so hot it turns the tv off,but as soon as it cools down it will start up by itself with a fuzzy picture.
I checked the caps and someone changed some of them.
There are two caps on the power board that don't match the drawing for the power board.
cm-872 & cm-873 the print says they should be 25-v 470 uf but the caps on the board are cm-872 & cm-873-25-v 1500 uf would that make the inductor hot enough to turn the tv off ? I will check voltage as soon as I know what caps belong on the power board.

Did they use general purpose capacitors?
These inductors are on the power board?
Check PSU output voltage as the TV runs: see if it starts falling.

        Hello,
The inductor gets hot by de ripple, check it.

I have the same TV with a similar issue. Yours turns off completely or just the image? Mine only the image and the audio still works.
Mine runs for many hours and then the screen goes black. Lately though it didn't do it, since I have changed the power supply board, from another Samsung TV.

It turns off, and chimes and turns on , and chimes. When it starts itself back up the picture is fuzzy.

All the caps are factory except the two circled they are Nichicon H0828

The inductor in question is on the main board, as circled in red.

I would replace them all. Maybe one of those small ones, is the startup capacitor and it's bad.

What do you mean other series?

                        Re: samsung ln46a650

I bought new caps at my local electronics shop.Enough to do the whole board.
What about the two caps that don't mach the drawing.
                        CM-872 & cm-873 print says 25-v 470-uf for both.
Someone a Wise Person I guess soldered in 25-v 1500-uf
When I re cap the board should I change them two caps per the print.

Use the values as designed in not as soldered in

Thank you Tom66 I was just getting ready to start putting them in.
Those 1500uf caps Would they make the inductor on the main board very hot.
Are the caps I bought OK for this board? Were the value coming out of CN-801 to specs?
I hope this solves the problem as this is a big deal for this model.

I recapped the whole board even the caps that checked out ok.
I changed the caps with 1500uf-25-v to specs 470uf-25-v
Now the inductor is running ay 125-c and not 175-185-c shut off point. The picture is beautiful now what a difference.
The guy I bought this tv from had a Samsung class action law suit Cap change from a Samsung authorized repair shop ,and they put in the wrong caps.
Thank You Tom66 you are to smart for this planet.,and where do I send the 30 rack of beer (gift cer. of your choice) tomorrow I'm WORKING ON A KDL 40W4100 SONY tab bond problem. I think.
