Flickering and double/ triple images

Hi,

My samsung 32 inch LCD TV has suddenly developed this problem - flickering and double/triple images of moving objects. When the scene changes, there are frozen images from the previous scene. I have tried removing the ariel and connecting with my laptop through HDMI but same problem.

Could anyone pls advise? The TV is abt 3 years old.

What is the model #? Does the TV have a 100Hz feature? Or is it vanilla 50Hz?

It's Samsung LE32C450E1W. Dont know if it has 100 Hz feature.

Just 50Hz (which is fine, given most 100Hz sets look awful.)
Can you provide a picture of the fault?

It sounds like tab bonding, wait to see the pictures to confirm.

Sorry for late response. Actually, the problem used to occur few minutes after turning on the TV. For last two evenings, the prob is not occuring so cdn't take pictures.

I can't tell but in those pictures is very faint vertical line and everything underneath that line is flickering like vertically jumping but everything above it is perfect?

There is no vertical line. however, there is a permanent horizontal line about a centimeter from the bottom edge.

The problem occurs after the TV is switched on for 5 minutes. Some weird magenta coloured horizontal/vertical lines start appearing from the left side and then ghost images.

Looks like a tab bond/panel failure

Agreed. You could push on the tabs to see if the picture normalizes if you feel comfortable doing it.

I tried doing that yesterday but no change. Is it something which is repairable at a decent cost so that it works for a reasonable time.

Ok. Do you have freeze spray. Spray on both sides of the lcd panel right at the line thats one cm from the bottom. see if picture clears up. I had an off brand TV with samsung internals that I modified the screen and it cleared the problem. But this modification is not for the faint at heart.

And if the freeze spray method does not work try heat at the same areas. Not too much that it melts anything thou.
