Just to make sure, could you share a picture of the exact fault in question.

It's usually bad panel but not due to your cause. If you bought the TV faulty that will have been present anyway. It's very rare on these particular panels.
You could try swapping the buffer board but I'd be surprised if it fixed the issue.

Seems to be one complete row of pixels.. Hhmm! dont really want to spend any more money on it unless I was certain it was going to fix it.
Thanks for your help

Hi Tom
Decided to bite the bullet and bought a used buffer board off ebay. When I fitted it I discovered that it was faulty and had no picture at all. I fitted the old one back on and instead of having one thin black line I now had two thicker (two or three pixels) black lines about 4 inches apart.
I decided to disconnect the second from bottom ribbon connector on the buffer board and found that the screen showed a thick four inch black band across the screen. I had marked where the two black lines were on the frame and they correspond exactly with the top and bottom of the black band.
It would seem the fault is something to do with connections at this point
Would appreciate your thoughts
Regards
Sab
It can be the connection between that orange ribbon (FPC) and the plasma panel, I don't know if that could be fixed.

Hi Tom
Have just noticed a very small tear in what you call the orange fpc data connection cable. It seems to expand over four threads\wires. If this is the prob can these be renewed or repaired?
Cheers
Sab
Unfortunately, not as far as I am aware. They are glued to the panel, not replaceable. You could attempt soldering fine wires to them after stripping the insulation off, but I don't expect that to work.

Hello everybody. I have a ps43d490a1w and the picture is displayed with red pixels as you can see in the attached picture. The problem started with no image and sound ok, but after 4 or 5 on/off cycles everything was ok and the picture didn't vanished. Now the picture stays, but i get this red pixels... I noticed that the pixels are more often with the media box of cable tv supplier, but if i watch a movie from PC the red pixels are not as many as on the media box source... What do you think, x and y change, or this simptome is dead panel and doesn't worth to try the x and y replacement? Thank you and sorry for bad english
Check the Y-main board for a cold or cracked solder joint on one of the transistors. It's a common fault and it will cause picture issues.
If it's this, then you can just solder the pin to repair it.

First of all thank you for the reply and suggestion. I just finished a few minutes ago with the resolder, and indeed it was two transistors poorly soldered, but the problem still remained Voltages are ok, 206 and 58 i measured. Ibelive remains the replacement of the boards... I link in what i found on ebay and please give me an advice that i am good to go with them? Here they are: X-Main and Y-Main The Xis the same rev,but Y is not even 1.8, it is 1.9. That would be ok?
Thank you in advance.
Finaly i have found panels with the same revision on ebay. After i change them i need to do a firmware upgrade to the latest one that it is 1029.0 in my case? If so, why i need to do? The firmware isn't stored on the main panel, or the logic board?
Firmware is on the logic board. You should only need to update firmware if your set has an X-main fault or is built before a specific date. See here.

I checked the link and my model isn't on the list. I have the PS43D490A1W model. This means, that i have nothing to do?
I do not know for sure, but I think it applies to all D4x sets, i.e. D440, D450, and D490 (3D).
