Local dump $20 special, analogue tuner now obsolete as digital TV service only now free to air.

Initial indications of the TV were, nil display, front power on was normal, sustain boards on, panel primed slight glow which could only be seen in the dark.

Remote operation was normal as far as turning on /off.
Re-seated all cables on DG board with no change.

Disconnected LVDS at DG and turned on with full white, connected a DVD player to AV1 and selected Av on remote, sound could be heard.

Slept on it, thinking D board fault, possible DG / H board as suggested by TOM, then realised I had not reseated the LVDS at the D board end.

Worth a shot at least as there have been reports of simple fixes and faults with these(longshot I'm thinking). Reseated that point and nice surprise, OSD on screen.

LVDS cabling very close to electrically HOT PSU heatsinks, yep i got bitten eventually.

Fed the DVD in again and display was a mass of red sparkling dots, manipulating the LVDS created perfect picture but still poor connection, intermittent.

Tried blowing it out and some alcohol but hard to get in there well, still poor and intermittent just touching the cable.

reseated over and over again to clean up the contacts and it appears to have fixed it although don't expect long term reliability in these humid conditions.

Unlikely many people would be fiddling with such an old set, but it 'll do my mate just fine for something under the house whilst having a beer
