can i use a 1000uf 35v in place of a 1000uf 16v

hi there only new caps I have here to fix a repair job
the Samsung psu has 4 bloated caps they are 1000uf 16v
I have 3 new caps of same value to replace with but no more I do however have some new 1000uf 35v caps will these be ok to use please help

absolutely fine, same capacitance and voltage equal to or higher than spec

It depends on what brand and series of capacitors they are.

The capacitors you use must be of the "low esr" type, for switching power supplies, monitors etc. You can't use just any kind of capacitor, for example you shouldn't use a capacitor removed from an old radio or an old CRT TV, which aren't subjected to the same high frequencies and currents as in monitor power supplies.

Otherwise, in general you can you can use capacitors rated for higher voltage, to replace capacitors rated for lower voltages... but I have to stress again that technical specifications must be very close to the specs of the old capacitors.

With electrolytic types also bear in mind the physical size, if space is tight a larger cap will not physically fit where the original cap goes.
Just something to bear in mind.

Yea he is right. I have bought caps with the same uf and voltage rating and not fit. Bad if your board is crowded. Even Panasonic caps vary. Get same uf and voltage the size changes from one series to the other. Not all suppliers provide physical size or lead spacing.
