So I got one of these tv's and I plug it in and the blue power light turns on and nothing else happens. I take the back panel off and no caps are immediately not icily bad. And some lights turn on on the main board. Well after like 15 min the screen turns on and works fine. Now it has 4 big 250v 850uf caps and the spaces around the x is slightly buldged but its hard to tell if it actually is or not but they are not completely flat. How can I test the caps to see if they are bad.

Re: Philips 42pfl7432d/37 turn on after like 15 min
Do you have pics?
One simple trick you can try is to use a hairdryer to heat up parts of the board(s) to see if you can get the TV to turn on faster. This could help identify your problem component. An ESR/capacitance meter is the ideal tool to test caps.
Edit: In those 15 mins when you have no pic, do you have sound or a backlight?Last edited by capkid; 08-13-2013, 12:07 AM. -
Re: Philips 42pfl7432d/37 turn on after like 15 min
I will try to get a pict later today. When I first turn it on the blue light comes on solid and that's it. If I press the power button to turn it on you don't hear any relays click but I did notice that on the main board there are two sets of lights. One set has 5 LEDs next to each other and only the first two on the left hand side of them are light up and the other set only has one led and that is light up. While the tv is like this no sound and no backlight. But once the tv turns on on the set of 5 led lights when the tv turns on the first two are lite up and the 5th one is lite up. And once it finally turns on I can turn the tv off and back on no problem. But before the tv turns on I cannot turn the tv off with the power button I have to unplug it.Comment

Yeah, visually speaking, those caps look fine to me. Did you try the hairdryer trick? Pics of the rest of the board layout would be helpful. Also, voltage output measurements from the PSU when the TV's "warming up" might be good.Last edited by capkid; 08-13-2013, 03:48 PM.Comment

I will send a pict of the rest of the board later when I get off work. I'm thinking it might be the main board or ssb board cause I can't even turn the tv off with the power button. It automatically lights the blue power led when I plug it in the socket.Comment

Re: Philips 42pfl7432d/37 turn on after like 15 min
Ok so I put the cap I took out to get tested back in and plugged everything back up and the tv when I plugged it in the blue light turned on right away. I pressed the power button and the tv turned on. But then I turned the tv off with the power button and the tv turned off. The little led lights on the main board were still lite for about 30 seconds then turned off I think that's normal. But then the tv was making a high pitched squeal or whine while the whole tv was off. And I put my ear next to it and I think it's coming from the capasitor or the coil next to it. Here is a pict of what I'm talking about. Also I plugged the ambient lights in and they didn't work at all. Can anyone tell me where to go with the whine thing cause I feel like the tv is gonna stop working again a little while down the road and I don't want to sell it without knowing its not gonna have a problem when the person takes it home right away.Comment

by waakyeHi everyone,
I was giving this ASUS ROG G750JM that exhibit the following behavior:
When you press the power button, the computer turns with no image and turn it's off within 7 seconds. The battery charges when I connect the AC power. I tried flashing the bios with the uSB method and pressing Ctrl + Home and I can see the bios upgrade on external monitor.
My issue is the laptop doesn't stay on for a long time and turn itself off.
Any lead on how to resolve this will be appreciated.
I cannot boot in windows and no liquid damage.
Thanks in advance. -
by TyrmasHi all!
A few days ago my TV suddenly turned off while watching Netflix from my media PC. Only connected cables were HDMI and TOSLINK. It immediately started doing this loop where the power led turns on for a second and then turns off. You can also hear a click inside the TV every time.
I tried the easy stuff first like disconnecting everything including the power cord but that didn't fix the issue.
Now I opened the TV to check if there are any bad capacitors but as far as I can tell, they look okay.
I've attached a few pictures and... -
by gabrielA7Does not turn on, lights 3 of the 4 LEDs and turns off and stays like this, presses the power and repeats.
I saw that the room LED lights up only when the screen is connected, so quiet.
We have all the power supplies, even processor, 1.8V
One thing I found strange, it has a very low resistance in the Vcore is giving 1 Ohm , work with notes and such, I know that this is normal in some processors but with this resistance only take video card so found it strange.
I suspect that there may be some leak in the processor.
Anyway, when I press the power, it... -

Mother called and said TV turns off after switching on. So after turning on Philips logo shows and probably 10-20 seconds image disappears, sat receiver is connected and sound is heard from source. So I turned on my phones light and I can see the image it seems backlight was off after some time. I dis assembled the cover hoping to see a distinc cap blown or leakage. Here are photos I took (I was after 22:00 pm and maybe some of them are dark). Should I order and change caps on the power circuit or what would you recommend? Thanks... -
by JorKsXHello. Got my hands on Philips 47pfl6008s/12.
Problem is that it does not turn on. Last owner said the problem came slowly.
One day did not respond to remote, had to unplug from AC and then back and it worked. next day had to disconnect 3-4 times before it turned on.
And then it went into hours of unplugging and replugging until it turned on.
When I plug AC into tv, it does not respond to "turn on" button or anything else.
After 10-15minutes the TV starts blinking red LED twice.
So it blinks twice, then waits 3 seconds, then again twice... - Loading...
