    Sony KDL-40SL140 2 blink code

LED turns green momentarily, then gives 2 blink code. Service manual does include the blink codes for some reason but just talks about them.??

Googling it seems to indicate power supply problem. Before I get into checking voltages, has anyone had experience with this one?

First thing I noticed it has the AC-DET but that seems to be working fine. Thanks!

Re: Sony KDL-40SL140 2 blink code

POWER_ON - Jumps to 3.3v momentarily then down to 0v.
    AC_OFF_DET - 3.4V
    STBY3.3V - 3.4V
    UNREG_15V - 0V
    REG12V - 1.1V

Does it look like 12V or 15V not working and shutting down PSU?

Yes, they should come up when POWER ON changes. Try jumpering with 1k resistor to STBY3.4V without main board connected, if they come up the main board may be bad.

Nope they don't come up, power supply problem then? The only other thing I see is the 1.0V on INV_ERR when TV is switched on, dunno if that is normal.

Quite possibly because the power supplies are not coming up the inverter control circuit isn't working. So hence INV ERR. I'd track down the power supply fault first.

Here is the training manual, 2 blinks = power supply problem.

Re: Sony KDL-40SL140 2 blink code

Thanks Bud that is very helpful info. According to this:

2X Blink Pattern (Power Supply Failure)
The 2X Blink Pattern usually indicates a loss of the 12V secondary output
on the main power supply IC6100. This protection mode basically indicates
a general main power supply failure, which can be caused by one of the
              following failures
              • Defective Main Power Supply (IC6100)
              o Loss of 12V
              • Loss of POWER_ON signal (Main Microprocessor)
You can determine if one of the previously listed conditions exists by
measuring the 12V and listening for the relay click before the TV shuts
OFF. If the 12V is not present before shutdown then the IP5Z power supply
board is possibly defective. Perform the following checks to determine the
              defective component.
              2X Troubleshooting Procedure:
              1) Listen for Relay Click.
              a) Relay Click Heard. Go to Step 2
              b) No Relay Click Heard. Go to Step 3
              2) Check the condition of the 12V at CN6150/pin 11
              a) No 12V replace IP5Z-Board
              b) *Normal 12V Level replace BM5-Board
*Normal voltage Level - the voltage approaches 12V but does not exceed
              before shut down.
              3) Check for the presence of the POWER_ON voltage at CN6150/pin
1 after pressing the TV ON/OFF button.
              a) No 3.3V POWER_ON voltage replace BM5-Board
              Troubleshooting
              b) 3.3V POWER_ON present replace IP5Z Board

There is no relay click heard, and 3.3V POWER_ON is present, so it should be the power supply board, more specifically the IC6100. Does that sound like I read that right?

Re: Sony KDL-40SL140 2 blink code

Replaced power supply and that fixed TV. I'd like to try to troubleshoot the original one if anyone is up to it. So far I replaced IC6100 and waiting on part IC6200 which I think I damaged when I forgot and used cold ground to check VCC.

Service manual has a nice schematic of PS

Panasonic ZT60 plasma tv with strange behavior and 8 blink code
                  by cloo
I recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.

So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...

2 red blink code on old led tv Sony KDL-40W2000
                  by reporter1979
Hi all, the TV KDL-40W2000 was flashed by a lightning.
Firstly I got the 3 red blink code.

Following other threads I changed the power supply board and got always 3 blinks.
So I changed also the mainboard and now I get 2 blinks error code. Tried also with the other ps board, still getting 2 blinks.

The TV turns on for a minute or two with green led and blank screen, if I press buttons the green led blinks fast. It turns to 2 red blinking led after a while.
                  What else can I do?...

                  Sony XBR-65X900E 4 Blink Code
                  by Storyteller12
                  Hi,
I have this set. It turns on and is watchable for a few minutes but then shuts off and flashes 4 red lights.

I don't work on Sony much but assumed it was backlights from what I read.

Opened up the TV and tested all the backlights with led tester and the all work.

I know sometimes that doesn't mean anything since it's not running at full current but I hate to spend $120 on backlights (shopjimmy) is the only one that even has them just to find out I missed something.

So anyway to test these lights similar to the way we test...

Panasonic Plasma repair - TH-P60GT50 - Dead, 3 blink code
                  by rmacintosh
I aquired this Panasonic 60" plasma around the time my first child was born. It was meant to be a project tv, hoping to fix it chipping away at the repair in my free time. Well that was 2 years ago and i'm really just getting around to making a sincere effort to see if I can ressurect this beast.

The symptoms of the tv ar as follows:
                  • Plug AC in to back of TV
                  • After about 2 seconds the relay on the P-sub board will click on and then a fraction of a second later it clicks back off
                  • The 3 blink code is given by the power LED
                  • If the TV is unplugged and then
                  ...
