    westinghouse Ld-4655vx not so great

I've been using it a lot it's really not so epic I recently switched to using hdmi instead of vga...

What is the best I can do to make it better?
Also does this thing support ARC over HDMI I can't find this info anywhere.

    Thanks!

I managed to screw up the LED strips on the one I was repairing. Had the infamous shorted out area. Never could get all the LEDs to come on and finally broke the tab connectors trying to reseat the cables so many times. The whole set is so cheaply made its unreal.

What's "not so great" about it?

The fact that it's a cheap piece of junk, using a crap LCD panel, cheap LEDs with poor spectral response, and poor speakers? That's what you get with 95% of LED TVs today. About 5% of them are good, such as Sharp's ELITE and Sony's XBR900(?) series. The others may as well be lowest common denominator junk.

The TV is unlikely to support ARC... usually that is relegated to higher end TVs with a custom video processing IC (like Samsung, LG, Sony, Sharp, ...) These tend to use a HDMI multiplexer (basically having a 3-in-1 HDMI switch integrated into the set), so cannot support ARC, except in rare cases over only one HDMI port.

A decent 42" panny plasma made in 2008 beats the crap out of almost every LED TV nowadays, but uses a lot more power (like 350W compared to 50W.)

I'll take the extra power consumption and the Plasma. I have an early 09' 1080P 50" LG and the picture is still awesome. Tried to convince myself that a couple new 55" Samsung LEDs that I picked up broken looked ok. The LG was back in our living room both times in less than a week.

Marantz SR4003 AVR HDMI board issue, seeking for help
          by aliougm
I have problem with my AVR(Marantz SR4003) HDMI board issue. I connect to my TV but screen color distorted, see attached picture.

          Connection as below:
          Set-top box HDMI output >AVR 3 HDMI input/one HDMI output>HDTV HDMI port
If I bypassed AVR then HDTV screen color be good.

I take out HDMI board from AVR and check services manual the schematic shown the HDMI signals path:
          3 HDMI input port > SIL9185 chip(HDMI switch) > SIL9033 chip(HDMI receiver) > SIL9030 chip(HDMI transmitter) > HDMI output port

          I replaced all...

Certain DisplayPort-HDMI cables can disable HDMI CEC communication
          by japlytic
With a setup including a TV and AV receiver where HDMI Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) and Audio Return Channel (ARC) functions were working, these two functions stopped working after changing some connections (not the one between the AV receiver and TV), so I believed it was a corrupt setting in the AV receiver or TV, but when I disconnected a passive DisplayPort-HDMI cable (which a Multimode DisplayPort connector supports HDMI with a low cost passive cable or adaptor) connected to a home theatre PC, HDMI CEC and ARC functionality was restored.
An examination of the HDMI CEC wiring...

          Toshiba 50UL2063DB randomly rebooting with HDMI-CEC and/or HDMI-ARC enabled
          by spleenharvester
I have this TV hooked up to only an AppleTV 4K and a Creative soundbar. Originally HDMI-CEC and HDMI-ARC wouldn't work at all, I replaced all the HDMI cables with decent UGREEN cables meeting the latest standards, now it all works perfectly but once or twice a day the TV itself reboots while watching a program, the AppleTV keeps running. I haven't fully pinned down whether it is ARC or CEC causing it yet. All are running latest firmware.

I assume it is just HDMI-CEC being buggy as usual on a shitty Vestel machine, but can anyone think of anything I can try before disabling it?

LG LCD TV HDMI PORT FAULTY
          by RossMoodley1967
LG LCD TV picture comes on intermittenly using hdmi port. The sound is on permantly. The hdmi ports looks fine and soldered in securely. The 3.4v coming to the main board is not present(not sure if will affect the hdmi port or where that voltage goes.)The hdmi cable is fine because it works on another tv.The ceramic caps connected to the hdmi controller ic is reading 39 ohms.Could the hdmi controller ic be faulty(feels very warm to touch). The RCA jacks work normally .Thank you in advance for your assistance..

          Pioneer VSX-44 receiver HDMI dropouts
          by RatherLoopy
I have an older Pioneer receiver (VSX-44) that's been dropping the HDMI output (black screen) for a few seconds every few minutes. Setup is HTPC -> Pioneer DVD HCMI in -> Pioneer HDMI out -> Samsung TV HDMI in, all with cheap HDMI cables that have never caused trouble before..

I initially found a lot of play in the receiver's HDMI inputs and output so I kind of squeezed them back into shape and they're making a tighter connection, but the problem persists.

And also, often, the HDMI will drop out in exactly the same way (black screen) just as my central air...
