When I crossed the two ribbons, half the screen did not have any light.
I had to cross them in pairs. The dim area traveled to the other side of the screen.
So, is the driver board is the issue, right?

It does sound like it since you can make the string that was dimmed to be bright. So far I cannot find the spec sheet for this BD9276EFV IC.

I couldn't fine anything myself.
I guess, it's the first one on the left, since the first 16 LEDs have problem.
48/3=16(48 is half the screen). There are three ICs controlling half the screen, so 3 x 16 LEDs.
The first 16 have issues, so I'm guessing is the first IC has an issue.
One IC on Ebay, is $9. It's a 2 x 20 pin IC.

You can try new IC (order more than 1), not sure how much the new board is either.

I have installed the board and the TV WORKS!!!!!
$159 3D Sony TV!! Made in 2011, has Gorilla glass, TV doesn't have a plastic frame at all, has presence camera, build in wifi, etc.
Time to get some glasses

Since this post I had picked up A Sony 55 inch backlit LED TV for cheap had the same problem except this one is edge lit all around the screen sides and top and bottom model number is kDL-55HX729. it would turn on have a beautiful picture for first two seconds and then lower left hand corner would go dim and I originally thought it was an LED problem but LED's when they go bad I believe they stay bad so I replaced my balance board and it worked perfect. Now at least with Sony's I know to look for first if they have local dimming.

if you cannot find the board and your soldering skills are good and you have a good Solder rework station
I would recommend just replacing the bad IC that runs that section of LED strip. I tried repairing one and it worked but sometimes it is hard to find the proper IC but I just Found mine off of ebay

I don't remember the part number, but you can check at shopjimmy.com.
Actually, I g\have paid $58.xx shipped from shopjimmy. So it's pretty much, the same price.
If you are handy with SMD soldering and you want to save money, you could replace the bad IC only.
There are some test points and the one which is different, that is the bad IC.
