    Lg 42lg5010

    Hi all,
This is my second posting, with another fault that I would be grateful of any assistance in solving.
I recently picked up an LG 42 inch LCD tv, the backlight is okay, I have checked all voltage outputs from the power supply board, and these all check out okay. There are no bulged capacitors, so the power board appears to be okay.

The problem with this is that the picture on the TV is very poor, there are multiple lines on the screen and the colours are all over the place.
I am hoping that this is not the dreaded ribbon bonding to the screen and that someone out there with a vastly superior knowledge than mine will be able to point me in the right direction.
At best I'm hoping that this will just be a board problem and as such a relatively easy/cheaper fix than binning the set.
I have attached some picture of the screen, and also of the rear of the TV.

Any help with this will be gratefully received

    Re: Lg 42lg5010

Hi again, I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before, I am told it could be a tab bonding failure but I am unsure if it's this as there are no visible lines down the screen, or if it was the TCON board at fault. I know that TCON boards give varying issues with regards to the display, but I was hoping someone out there could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks.

I would say tab bonds / panel fault.

Thanks tom66 for the reply. I have checked the tab bonds, and also both ribbons to the TCON board and I cannot seem to alter the picture in anyway- good or bad.
As an update to my last post, while watching the TV, the sound is okay but for a high pitched almost squealing click for a split second every now and then. Part of me thinks this might be a capacitor discharging but I've visually inspected all the capacitors on the power supply board and these all look to be okay. Is it possible that I may have a faulty main board or TCON board with bad capacitors?
Has anyone had to replace capacitors on any other board apart from the power supply board.

Hi all, Have not had the time to continue fault finding with this TV, but I will persevere and I will post and let you all know the outcome, good or bad.

It sounds like you are have failing x/y drive ICs which are on the flexible PCB. The squeal may be coming from the round inductor on theT-CON board due to too much current being drawn by the ICs.

              Re: Lg 42lg5010

Hi all, Thought I would post and give everyone the good news. The fault with this TV turned out to be the TCON board. Took the plunge and purchased a second hand one from ebay, fitted and now all is good.
Thought that this might be handy for anyone that may be having or may have in the future, a similar fault.
But once again thanks to all on this forum who have taken the time to help me out.

                  Hello Everyone,

I have an Onkyo TX-SR353 Audio/Video Receiver (5.1 ch with HDMI) that I am having a really hard time diagnosing and I'm about to throw this in the junk and go buy a new unit that is on sale until the 7th.

                  Symptoms:
                  • Intermittent (part of the reason why i'm having a hard time isolating problem), sometimes will work for 10+h at a time without issue
                  • Original symptom was wife reported loud banging noise (like someone was banging on the wall with their fists) from the LEFT SURROUND speaker and then the unit shut off.
                  • I swapped the Left and Right surround
                  ...

Got hold of this HUAWEI MATEBOOK D14 (DAH98NMB8B0 REV: B HF) intel i5 with 8gb ram. My friend told me that she is using the unit for 2 hours, then sudden black screen, she plug the adapter hoping it's just battery issue, charge the unit for a while. nothing even charging light. charging adapter is ok.

SYMPTOMS: No power, no charging lite, no sign of life

WHAT I DID: open the unit, visual inspection, check for burnt components, looks clean, no burn or corroded components, When charging the unit i got 19volts at the charging pin. i notice a over heating component...

                  Simeple ACF TAB/COF bonding pressure?
                  by james28909
I have came up with a design in my head for a lever action hot bar press. You can buy a lever style press and modify it slightly to easily achieve a lot of downwards force. You can use a scale to calibrate what lb force any certain position of the lever.

But what I am trying to figure out is this - the ACF that I am debating buying is rated for 2 Mpa at ~200C for 20 secs. When converting Mpa to PSI I get around 290-300 PSI.

The head of the machine, the hot bar, will have a much smaller area than square inches. So my question is if you have a hot bar head that has an area...
