I have a p50hdtv10a vizio plasma tv that my neighbor brought over to see if I could figure out what is wrong with it. I am not sure where to start. so I thought I would test the upper and lower buffers to see if any of them are shorted. I will add a picture of what the screen looks like

Re: p50hdtv10a Plasma snow and lines good sound
I tested the buffers as Coppell tv has posted the upper buffer is 395 and the other direction is infinate. the lower buffer is 76 and 59 which I would think is bad. can I replace the bottom one or do I need to check the y board for problems. -
Re: p50hdtv10a Plasma snow and lines good sound
I'd verify that you're getting the proper voltages from the Y-Sus just as a sanity check, but it sounds like your lower buffer is bad. What is the part number of the buffer? The reason I ask about the part number is that it could be that one of the buffer's mosfets has failed, in which case you could just replace the mosfet.Last edited by capkid; 07-06-2013, 08:25 PM.Comment

Ok, yes, you've probably seen Coppell's blog, and they mention that a FET on the buffer could be causing your issue. Have you tested any of the FETs? I had an LG-based TV with an identical chassis, and the lower buffer had a bad FET that caused vertical lines on the screen. Also, closely visually scan your buffer chips for pin-sized holes.

Edit: If you choose to just replace the buffer, it looks like there's a substitute if you can't find the original at a decent price: http://www.shopjimmy.com/lg-6871qdh089a-ydrvbt.htmLast edited by capkid; 07-06-2013, 11:47 PM.Comment

Re: p50hdtv10a Plasma snow and lines good sound
I tested the FET's on the bottom buffer part number FQB46N15 and they were testing bad. I removed all three of them off of the board and tested. just one is testing bad. I purchased a set of 3 FET's and replaced all three of them. the board tests good now. I installed the buffer and now the tv works perfect. thanks so much for your help.Comment

When it blanks out, can you still see a glow from the screen or does it go black completely? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

OK, check the Vs voltage coming out of the power supply before and after it goes blank. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!!
what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!
i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...-

by howardc64All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

by LEECH666Good day ladies and gentleman!
I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.
This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).
I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but... -
by KYBOSHPicked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.
When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on... - Loading...
