Hi people, my name is Dave, newbie, first post (be gentle) and I will appreciate any help you guys can give me.
Being totally new to the repair of any sort of tv by myself I first ask for your patience if I ask any stupid questions.
When watching the screen it looks snowy and grainy, I get pink patches and green dots on screen, very "contrasty" the problem is worse on bright backgrounds, if the picture, say, is showing an inside shot that is quite dark it looks ok. It also ghosts bright images from previous frames, if that makes any sense. The TV is only 7 months old. I have checked the ribbon connections by undoing and re attaching also I cannot see any visible signs of any damage/burns. At the moment I do not own a DMM but am willing to purchase one. Quick shots taken from around 3 feet attached.
On the pics showing the back of the plasma from 1 to 5,
1) Main Power board
2) Y Buffer (written on board itself)
3) Main board
4) ?
5) X Y Main (written on board)
If the above are incorrect then please correct them. The number info is to help me in any future replies i.e "Check board 4 for..."
I would like to know if this is a common fault and a straight forward board replacement (1-5) or a plasma for the skip. Also I have an opportunity to purchase a damaged screen plasma, same model but a version 2, mine is V 3, does anybody know where to check to see if the boards are compatible between the two models?
Thanks for reading and I appreciate any help I may receive,
Cheers,
Dave.
