LCD TV cooling Fan possible ?

I repaired a 32" LG LCD TV, the backlight was off about 10 minutes watching, but sound was still good. I thought it should be the backlight inverter or CCFL lamps problem, but when I took out the panel and check all the lamps are in very good condition, the inverter transformers are not shorted.

So I turn on the TV without put back the cover, it's one hour and it still working, When I touched the mental holding the lamps, it's very hot, the heat was from the lamps, so I think the backlight off is because of overheat.

I'm think to add a fan on the back near the power supply, but I need to control the fan's on/off, I would like to use a 12v fan and connec to the 12V output from the power supply, I'm afraid if this is good idea to add more loads to the power supply?

May be someone in this forum did this before, please advice.

I would expect all you are doing is delaying the inevitable.

The TV is probably overheating but this is only because it has been damaged by this heat over time. As it gets hotter it fails. But it didn't originally. In a year's time it might cut out in a minute instead. You really need to find and replace the failing parts.

I can't see how adding a fan to the set is going to overload the power supply.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

      Assuming...

Looking for help with a Viewsonic VP230mb where the backlight comes on only momentarily
      by lostone
Hello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.

First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...

UN65MU6300FXZC, no standby LED but power supply good. Bad IC1604 25Q40?
      by Yanleb
      Hi all,

My UN65MU6300FXZC is dead and the standby LED stays off. The power supply is good. The main board is BN94-12434A.

Disconnecting the main board from the power supply makes the backlight come ON.

I did disconnect the panel cables and the WIFI modules, the board is still dead.

I did read in many posts that IC1604 25Q40 becomes corrupted. It has proper 3.3 volt on VCC pin 8. I did read that if I post its dump here someone can fix it. Is that right?

      Thanks.

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
      by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
      by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...
