VisionQuest LVQ-47HLR-FHD, Model No. 126 Stuck on Test Pattern?

    Hi all,
Have a Vision Quest LVQ-47HLR-FHD, Model No. 126 (Rembrant) TV, that when powered on, goes to a test pattern screen that flashes a different test pattern aprx. every 5 seconds or so and will not respond to presses of any buttons, ie: Menu, Input, etc.

The screen seems quite fast to come alive after power on, and also quite bright even in a well sun lit room.

I assume that this tv is an off brand and likely (hopefully), uses some mainstream brand's components?

    I have tried so far:
Un-Plugging the tv, for up to several hours & powering on again,

Same as above, while holding various buttons down during power up of the tv, (and once I was able to see the VisionQuest name on screen for a few seconds before it fell back to the looping test screen).

Using all of the different input sources; HDMI, VGA, Composite, etc.

I hear no sound at all and neither the volume or channel buttons seem to have any affect when pressed.

I have gone to all the places I know of looking for a service manual with no luck.

Google'd and searched within this and other forums for similar symptoms, with no luck.

I did find a couple of threads that seemed like they were related, but did not seem to lead to any satisfactory conclusion.

    * I don't have the remote (but may be able to get one).
    * As of yet, I have not opened the case, since it almost seemed likely to me that there may be a way to do a factory reset, etc., without opening it up.

If anyone here has seen similar behavior (even in a different model / brand), I'd love to hear from you.

    Thanks for looking.

    Hi there,

I have the same tv with a similar problem, did you ever find a solution?

    Thanks

      Apologies for posting twice.

I took a photo, the blue bar on the left changes color every few seconds.

That is odd, your TV might be in test mode, but it also looks like you have a problem with the rest of the display. It could be a bad LCD panel or a loose connector.

Thank you both for the replies.

Tom, should I open her up and look for loose connections? Would it be similar to a PC component?

Did you ever get it working? I have exactly the same problem.
I did find a capacitor on the PowerSupply board that was bad. 1000uf35v

I do have a meter that can check the caps so plan on removing them one by one to check if I can find any more.

Take the original remote control and on the D-pad AKA arrows around the Ok/select button press the up arrow, then then down, then the up, and finally down again. Should reset the tv. Sylvania models go into test mode all the time and that fixes the issue 90% of the time.

I tried with the power on and off going through all the codes from my Bell Satellite (Dish Network) rcvr. Couldn't make the remote work.

                          I fixed it today!

The original 1000uF 35volt capacitor I showed earlier on the power supply board.

Their are 4 680uF 63Volt capacitors on the two sides boards....they looked a little bulged on the end....who would of thought all 4 measured badly with my meter. Replaced all four and it fired right up!

Took me a few extra minutes to figure out how to switch inputs without the remote.
                          1. hit Input
                          2. volume up/down until you have the right one sleected.
                          3. Hit both channel Up+Down at the same time to select.

                          Nice sharp picture!

I ran the TV 24hr/day since I posted above. Turned it off last night ......turned it back on this morning and same symptom of lines on picture.

Just when you think you got it all figured out.....

                                Hello,

I accidentally changed the project ID in the service menu of my Vidaa Hisense 100U7KQ TV. When I turn on the TV, the screen displays an RGB color cycle (test mode???). I contacted Hisense, and they sent me a usb_MTK_9618.EU.bin file, but it doesn't work. I can see that the USB drive is being read, and it flashes for about 10 minutes (the screen remains in the color cycle during the firmware reading), then the TV turns off and restarts, but still in the color cycle mode.

I want to mention that the 4GB USB is formatted in FAT32 MBR. I've also renamed the file to...

                                Hello fellow Badcappers,
I have a Surface Pro 7 that's turning on (CPU heating up, USB powered, LCD powered) stuck on a boot logo. BIOS should be correct (ME cleaned, worked in a different S7Pro), no shorts. Only thing that seems a bit weird is the pattern in which the SSD chip is heating up. Is that normal behaviour? Rest of the SSD is 10 degrees colder.

I have replacement SSDs, but it's quite a hassle to reball and install them, so I would like to avoid doing this step if possible.

                                Thank you!

I got this beauty of a 65" Android Smart TV from a roommate whose boss through it out because it didn't work. I've fixed a few TVs before, but was being stupid on this one:

                                Original issue:
TV powered down after a minute or so, but picture was fine.
Tried replacing main board, which didn't work. I should have just replaced the AC Power board.

Months later, I replaced the power board, so I can see the screen. I lost / threw out my original main board, and there is now what I believe to be a defective main board in the TV. My symptoms...

                                Hello
I have power adaptor(220V/input, 12V 1.2A/output) which has symptom of fluctuating output DC voltage between 11.5V-12.2V.
So I opened its plastic case and when switched it on, I heard constant tik tik sound from inside its PCB.
I measured DC voltage between negative and positive pin of the largest capacitor(400v 10uf) and it was measured contant 300V.
I also measured ESR value of all capacitors and I noticed that one of capacitor(KMG 16v 470uf), which located in the secondary side, have high ESR value(10 ohm),So I replaced it with same specification NXH capacitor....

I've got a LN-T4065F which came into my shop with the customer complaining that the test patterns would randomly come up on the screen. Upon testing, the pattern came up on the screen after about 20 minutes of use. We opened it up and did a visual inspection to see if there was any dust or bugs shorting out anything on the board that would generate the test patterns. I'm a bit new to TV repair but on a plasma tv that we recently worked on we strapped out the auto ext on the control board and it generated test patterns on the screen. My thoughts was that maybe something was shorting out that circuit.......
