    Sony KDL-40W4500 image problem

Hi all. I got this TV to have look what is wrong with it and it looks like image displayed on LCD is darker on one side. When TV is cold image is fine, but after few minutes this weird thing happens. My question is: Is this LCD panel or is that a backlight problem?

When this effect occurs does the left hand side blur considerably more? That is, if you were to move the Xbox menu would you see a long delay before the ghost image cleared?

        Bingo. Tab bonds.

On sony 40" TV's with bad tab bonds, applying pressure to the tab usually doesn't help, so the set is considered "unrepairable" there is a technique that I got to work for a few hours where you solder a resistor from a thin board to one of the tabs, but it requires delicate precision / and good soldering skills. It's probably worth a shot if your skilled, but I personally am not even good enough to get the soldered resistor to stay attached to the tab, which is why the fix only lasted for a few hours for me.
Fixed so far 12 lcd's , 1 plasmas, 5 monitors, 0 dlp's (plan to keep the dlps at 0). and 3 atx power supplies, and 2 motherboards.

You couldn't use a SMD resistor there? Glue it to the ribbon cable, right on the pad, or as close as possible.

I didn't give it 100% of my effort / time. I could possibly have also used a conductive adhesive (is arctic alumina conductive?). Pretty much after I put it back together and it stopped working after 5 hours I just put it in a box and haven't touched it since, stripping the set down to the panel is a chore... for all I know the wire I used might have just grounded out to the frame somewhere, I had to wrap the wire in electrical tape to try to prevent that.

You really need to find yourself a 32" or 40" sony with the ghosting tibi, I can tell you really want to try that resistor fix
