I'm not familiar with this brand as we don't have them in the UK. Sharp here had issues with the connections to the tubes (EEFL tubes) which caused the set to error and refuse to start.

Sorry posted to the wrong thread... I'm not sure if all the lights lit up. The two center ones did. Is there a light for each bank on the inverter? It also hums quite a bit when I did the resistor check.

could you use one or more of these to test the invertor/tubes?

There is a hand held tool that neon sign people use that just touching 1 side of a neon bulb will cause it to light up if its good. Its a pretty awesome tool, id assume something similar would work for fluorescents, although fluorescents require a ground within a short distance of the bulb so might work in a slightly different manner.

And yes on TVs with inverters like that every 2 transformers usually powers a pair of bulbs. So if only some of the transformers are bad swaping the bulbs should have no effect on which positions light up.
Fixed so far 12 lcd's , 1 plasmas, 5 monitors, 0 dlp's (plan to keep the dlps at 0). and 3 atx power supplies, and 2 motherboards.

If you have a bad CCFL tube, transformer etc that will cause the protection circuit to shut off the outputs, I've witnessed it directly on a spare tube I keep where one end would attempt to light very slowly before shut-off, the transformer had failed in that case. You will normally get a 2 seconds to black in this situation though. I don't know if the inverter from an old scanner will fire up larger tubes, I have a couple which I will try out sometime, it could be a handy tester if it does, 12v supply and a CCFL and that's all.

I leaning towards no Blon voltage, going to try to trace that circuit out.

If your BL_ON is stuck at less than 1V, then yes you need to find why the main is not sending out the BL_ON.

Vizio E55-E1 bad backlights or bad inverter?
                  by x_orange90_x
I just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.

I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it...

                  by valvashon
For some reason I'm just not going to let this 19" TV defeat me. I guess because I have a schematic to work from I feel like I'm oh so close.

History- while adding a turn-on circuit I let a small screw roll under the power board. Worked through all of that circuitry, probably replacing a MOSFET and PWM controller that were not bad but I was following the service manual. Finally figured out that the power supply is in working order when the inverter section (for the backlights) is disconnected. When the +12 supply to the inverter is disconnected the +12 and +5 will come up...

A modified sine wave inverter + a grid tie inverter?
                  by eccerr0r
If I had a solar fed grid tie inverter (GTI), a modified sine wave inverter, and a power outage occurred, what would happen if you disconnected mains, backfed the modified sinewave inverter (MSI) into house power, and hooked up the GTI to the output of the MSI, would it work?

Next thing is trying to charge the batteries using solar power, but that's another issue ...

                  Sony KDL-46BX450 Inverter Troubleshoot Logic
                  by caseyjay_48
I am currently on a troubleshoot of 46” Sony KDL-46BX450 tv. I came back from Washington to Texas on medical emergency and had to leave all my tools up there. All I have is a couple of screwdrivers and a dvm. I wish to ask the community a troubleshooting question. Please forgive stupid questions as meds I am taking produce brain fog.
I have well maintained Sony KDL-46BX450. It went black one day. After turn-on, I get solid green light and Sony logo in screen center for about 1-2 seconds, then black. No blinking LEDs, no hissing. Flashlight test shows screen characters dimly viewable,...

I picked this TV out of a trash pile. When I plug it in I can hear the relay on the power supply “click” almost immediately, and then 7 seconds later there is another “click” and the power/OPC LEDs start to flash: two pulses on the power LED, one on the OPC LED. I didn't notice any sign of life from the backlight, but more on that below.....

The service manual () says this is a “DET_10V error: UR10V or A9V is not applied”, but after checking several voltages I believe the power unit is tripping off due to an overload as soon as the backlight tries to come on; this kills...
