Since the repair, I've tried to use the TV as a PC monitor [VGA connection], but the picture flashes rapidly. It was working OK in TV mode. I've tried different refresh rates, but nothing stops the flashing.
I shall test with an HDMI cable when I have one, but now it's started flashing in TV mode as well. It sometimes stops after a short while with a decent picture, but changing some of the TV settings will start it off again. The rate of the flashing depends on which setting is been changed.
Could it be anything to do with the repair? Should I not have used UF5408 diodes?Comment

Can you see if its the backlight that's doing the flashing--or the actual image on the screen?TELEFIX

Without the back on the set, you can often see through cracks/gaps on the metal-work or screw-holes the backlight working.TELEFIX

Got the diodes today and installed them. Tv is alive again, just want to say thanks for the valuable info on this thread. Ordered Halnziye HY910 heatsink adheseve non conductive from ebay, only £2.30 with free delivery, link below. anyone used this? any good?

Whilst flickering...

# 3 does not look right, 1.56V when flickering, and 0.23V when stable.

HI all. Just a note for anyone that has one of these TVs.
Make: Bush (China)
Model: BLED42FHDAE.
Symptoms: Half screen went dark, then tv wend dead. No power lights. Fuse checked ok.
First thing checked was standby 5v: Present @ 5.1v.
PS_ON signal from main board: Present @ 4.5v.
I suspected the power supply to be in a foldback / crowbar condition after the screen going out, so I disconnected the power to LED Backlight board (Part ER643). Now standby light is on and TV responds to remote power on - light goes green.

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?
I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.
Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. I have this PSU (GPS450-AA delta oem) around for like 4-5 years and I had it recapped early 2020 or 2021 with mostly UCC KY and Nichicon PW's. The bulk was and still is fine, the original Ltec's were bloated and empty. The previous issue was some major coil whine noise and at times random shutdowns when going idle. Today it started tripping the mains breaker and I think I have dead APFC mosfets (20N60C3). Right now upon checking I have the Q1 and Q3 FETs dead so far and I guess those are responsible for the PFC circuit. The only thing I care is If there... -
Hello, today I'm working on this lovely MSI Raider GE75 gaming laptop which I bought to flip. Unfortunately, I believe the CPU is toast but I wanted a second opinion before I chucked it into my spare parts bin. I will not have most tools with me today as I'm away from my workbench but I have the basics (a good multimeter, a horrible iron, a solid screwdriver, and my trusty thermal cam). I do not have the original 230w charger, but I have a Dell 180w which was sold with the device and reportedly "worked fine for them".

Hi, I was recently given a Bush Smart TV by a friend and the main board seems to be hanging on by a thread.
Before we get to that, my first obstacle was figuring out the model number since the back sticker has gone for a walk. Upon taking off the back case, I noticed the following Vestel parts, 17MB95m mainboard, 17IPS71 (what I'd assume is power supply) and a VES420UNVL-3D-S02 display panel.
