I accidently used to much heat and burnt a pad on the board I don't know how to go about fixing it I heard that you have to scrape away the coating on the trace and if the capacitor legs reach you can solder it, but I scraped at the trace and no copper appears, only beside the trace some copper appears when I scrape, maybe that's not a trace im not sure. I included and circled in the picture the problem, a capacitor supposed to go there. please help
PLEASE HELP, Burnt off pad on Y-Main, how do I fix it

Re: PLEASE HELP, Burnt off pad on Y-Main, how do I fix it
It's a double sided board so from what i see there's no connection on that side. It'll be on the topside, how does that look? you may have to cut the leads a little longer so you can mount the cap high enough to get your tip in to solder.
Be careful not to stress the top joint now as it'll be much easier to break it free without the cap anchored by the solder pad that's missing. -

Re: PLEASE HELP, Burnt off pad on Y-Main, how do I fix it
The bottom pad that's gone won't matter, the other pad on the bottom wil have to be soldered, but I can't tell now what was on the Top, almost looks like pads are ripped from there as well and brutally.
usually on a double sided board the solder will also flow through the top as well when there's copper there.
I was hoping it was just the bottom pad that lifted but I'm not sure what to suggest at the moment.
If you can get a clearer higher res shot of the top maybe someone can work it out unless you know yourself what was there. Better put the board number up as well just in case someone has one and can have a look for you?Comment

Re: PLEASE HELP, Burnt off pad on Y-Main, how do I fix it
I just had another look at the bottom, the + must be soldered on the topside pad, - on both sides. Maybe hold off and see if anyone else offers up some opinions to either confirm or dispute.
Oh, and nice dustComment

Re: PLEASE HELP, Burnt off pad on Y-Main, how do I fix it
My suggestion would be --> On the top side scrape away a little bit on the + side. It should look like cooper. If it does, cut your + lead so you can solder it to the board in a L (with a 1/4" gap between the board and the cap & about the same or less on the board). Solder the pos to the top and the - to the bottom. Or carefully solder the + to the lil black resistor in front of it.
But I'm not a pro, it's just what I'd tryComment

by chth96When I assembled dreamcast I mistakenly fastened long bolt and It resulted in
cutting tiny trace.
This tiny trace(Total width of white coating is 5.5mm) is between R337,R343 and IC101 and it is covered with white coating in the below screenshot.
Firstly I tried to bridging tiny broken trace with my own eyes...But it is totally impossible..So a week ago, I ordered G1200 Digital Microscope and I magnified this tiny broken trace with it.
But It seems that It is really very tiny trace So I plan to order 0.1mm coper wire from aliexpress in order to bridging... -
by jshhhHi guys,
I've been trying to restore this Yamaha RM1X groove-box I bought, and the first thing on my agenda was to replace a bad capacitor that was making it so that the screen was super dim. As I'm a complete novice I went and accidentally pulled off one of the trace pads for the SMD capacitor as I was removing it, pulling up some of the green PCB with it. I've been trying to repair it by gluing down copper tape from where it began to pull off and solder the capacitor on after...atm I've just been attempting to do the same kind of thing on rubbish PCBs I got at a recycling place,...1 Photo-

by dicky96Hi guys
This Zotac GTX 260 had a high side MOFET on one Vcore VRM phase short circuit Drain to Gate (Not short Drain to Source)
This has burnt out the drive IC L3E (ADP3110A) and also an SOT-23 device very close to the driver IC. According to the PCB markings 'Dxxx' this is likely to be a diode.
Basically the VRM has 4 phases, two powered from one 6 way connector and two powered from the other 6 way
I would assume each pair of phases are basically identical, the burnt out phase has SOT-23 devices WW1 plus the burnt one.
The good phase... -
by nobbnobb1I picked up this used Bose Acoustimass 10 IV speaker system. Speakers seem to work fine, but the subwoofer does not make any noise. So I took apart the unit and found some obviously failed (burnt) components:
- 1x 3.14 A @ 250V main circuit fuse
- 1x bridge rectifier GBU601. there's actually two of these on the board, one is obviously burnt and the other does not seem to have any anomalies like shorts. However I figure may as well replace both.
- 2x diode. This is tricky because the only markings I see on it are: "617 402". No current rating or anything else....-

by Friend4CapIf anyone can help it will be very appreciate!!
Motherboard - (TUF GAMING B550-PRO) client connected Floppy Drive 4-Pin Power Connector to RGB_Header_1 +12V G . R . B and Burn one N6V8 and Damage all circuit trace, please check pictures, Motherboard not turning on & everything check ok, no short to ground, I need to repair all circuit trace and replace burn N6V8 but don't know where this 5 circuit trace connect to N6V8. If anyone with TUF GAMING B550-PRO can check. “Thank you in advance”...05-07-2023, 05:38 PM - Loading...
