VIZIO VX37L HDTV turns on for 5 seconds then VIZIO logo turns amber
I can't figure out why the mainboard shuts this tv down to standby. I downloaded the manual and checked the DC to DC converters and all my readings are the same as the service manual
Did you get to see the backlights on in the first 5 seconds? The LDO regulators voltages are all good?
Hi Budm, Yeah the blue screen comes up w channel info and it shutsdown to amber, if i push the power button it cycles again. No need to unplug power cord.
All the LDO voltages are according to the service info. What do ya think?
I am so much getting tired of buying used boards and half of them don't work...
What happen if you disconnect the power cables from the power supply to both inverter boards? Does the PS_ON drops out?
the ps_on signal stays on at 4.6volts about 2 seconds after the set goes amber. with and without the inverters plugged in makes no difference...
there are almost twice the amount of those little dc to dc converters than what the troubleshooting tree in the service info talks about. and they are marked on the board differently such as DU4 for instance instead of u4 or u8 or u9. the left half of the board has a d in front of everything. I breifly sampled the converters not listed and none of them seemed low although the DU4 shuts off when the set goes amber input 3.3 output 2.7 to chassis ground.
IMO the left side of the board looks like mostly digital tuner and hdmi...
Since I'm not finding anything obvious... Could I be chasing a ghost and possibly have some kind of eeprom or firmware issues?
Is there anyone versed well enough to repair my board rather than replacing with unknown used donor?
when i send out a repair with a used donor board I don't sleep well

I'm not a pro, so take anything I say with a grain of salt
That's the same(super close, maybe diff rev) PSU that's in my VIZIO. Have you tried jumping the ps_on and inv_on, just to see if the backlights stay on?

I don't think keeping the backlight on would make things better... The whole television shutsdown as if it were just plugged in the wall waiting for you to turn it on.
For some reason the mainboard won't stay on, IDK why but I do know this.
the power supply is ok I have a test power supply for this set.

Yeah, had a feeling I should just stick to "asking" questions
