VIZIO E420VO on then shuts off.

    Greetings,

    I have a VIZIO 42" television, model E420VO.

When I turn on the set it powers on, shows the VIZIO logo on the screen and then shuts itself off again. It is on for about 2 seconds.

I know these TVS are plagued with problems. I have the television apart, there is nothing obviously wrong with either board. Anyone have a similar problem? Any idea where to start?

    P.S.

New to the forum, thanks for all of the helpful information so far.

I have the exact same model, with the exact same problem. I haven't really had time to work on it, but when I do I will post back here with any info

I solved the problem by replacing the eeprom chip U18 on main board.

I bought one from a seller on Ebay who sent the chip without flashing it first. I was not pleased. After getting a refund I found another guy who sells the chips and programs them himself.

If anyone knows where to get the file needed to flash these chips, I'd be very interested. I'm sure this won't be the last time I run into this issue
