    Alba PS b/d cap buzz

There is a ceramic cap labelled 222k 1kv that buzzes whilst the Tv is in standby, once switched on, i.e. taken out of standby, the buzz goes away.

Would like confirmation what this ceramic capacitor is please.

    2200pf 1000volts (1kvolt) 10% tolerance?

    It's a 2200pF 1kV 10% ceramic capacitor...
If you need more information, a picture of the area it's used in may help.
No model of TV or PSU?

That is the correct value, ceramic can act as transducer since the plate can vibrate.

        Thanks for your quick replies.

Is it likely the cap just needs replacing?

The buzz is not so audible if I place a shield over the cap (I am using a drinking straw) and if glued in place it would prevent it from coming off but is it the cap that is failing? If so, I may as well replace it now.

Possibly more than that cap -- could be buzzing due to fault. Maybe even normal -- with case on, it might be supposed to be inaudible.

The ceramic cap is to the bottom left corner of the large yellow transformer.
And have circled it in black on the solder side photo.

Looks like the RCD snubber cap to me. It shouldn't buzz. Try replacing it.

Shall have to order some in as I don't have any nor are there any on the few spare boards I have kicking about.
