Vizio LCD E420VO 2 seconds to black

I have 5 volts standby present. When I press power button, PS_ON goes to 2.98 volts, backlights come on, screen displays Vizio logo for about 2 seconds, then the power supply shuts off and the TV goes back into standby.

It appears that this power supply is a power supply/inverter board in one, and the main board is a main/tcon in one board.

I see no bad caps or signs of anything bad on either board. I am suspicious of the main/tcon board. How can I verify the power supply is good? What other signal is it getting from the main that might make it shut off?

The inverter board may be shutting down because of a shorted transformer or IC on the inverter board... do you still hear audio when the video shuts down?

no audio. I tried to plug in a dvd player to check this. The TV turns on, displays the Vizio splash screen, and then shuts off before I can get to any menus or change inputs.

This is why I'm a bit suspicious of the main board. I'm thinking possibly corrupt eeprom or something like that maybe shutting down the power supply after the splash screen.

If I hold 3 volts on the PS_ON, shouldn't the power supply stay on if it's good?

        *bump*

I want to power up the power supply without the main attached. What would be the best way to do this?

Was this problem ever resolved? If so what was the resolution?

Yes, you can force on the power supply by using 1 K resistor between the PS_ON pin and the 5VSTBY pin, BUT you have to make sure to disconnect the cable on the PS_ON pin that goes back to the main board because the main board will try to keep that line low.

I went ahead and replaced the power board and problem remains. That leaves the main board, but I can't find it anywhere everyone is out of stock.

I now have replaced the main power and previously replaced the power board but problem remains. Vizio logo on frame has a Amber light, turn on the tv the Amber light turns white and Vizio appears on the screen, 2 seconds later the tv turns off and the light on the frame goes Amber again as if in standby.

                HELP!

But did you try forcing on the power supply board to find out if power board is OK as suggested in post 6?

Sceptre U550CV-UMR 4K LED, Bad Caps on Main Power Board?
                    by Dani_2024
Hi and thanks in advance for any input you might provide!
I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.
Main power board model: TP.MS3683.PC821 T-Con board: N4TP546UHDPU2L_BO

Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

                    Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
                    by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
                    CN6401
                    Pin 01 NC
                    Pin 02 NC
                    Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
                    Pin 04 "N/C"
                    Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
                    Pin 06 "GND": N/C
                    Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

(SOLVED) - ONN 100012588 No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change
                    by JDC
                    ONN 100012588
Issue: No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change

Short answer: replace main board and power board
Technical answer: replace main board and Q306 & Q307 on power board.

                    Long answer:

TV wouldn't turn on. Power switch was fine which means the main board isn't processing the power on signal. Replaced main board. TV turns on now but randomly reboots. Bad main board? EEPROM? Tried to pull main board and got a shock touching the corner of the board. That's weird. C334 (450V 10uf) capacitor is still holding a high charge....

Is it possible to upgrade from a Vestel 17MB97 main board to a 17MB110 Main board?
                    by cheeky2
I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...
