just picked one of these up free from local gumtree add the owner said it just stopped powering on took the psu out after hoovering all pcbs from thick dust etc (smoking house i guess by the smell ) it looks like the psu is a fsp273-4f01 rev 1 a visual look at capacitors 11 out of 17 bulged bad capxon i think i have just placed a online order with rs for all 17 panasonics asked for to collect tomorrow so will update once fitted these look quite a nice set for a 40in lcd came with stand and remote will update soon with pictures not sure if has freeview but has hdmi etc.

Not bad for free.
If it has a PCMCIA slot it probably has Freeview.

yes not bad for free but i am always concerned when the phantom fiddlers been inside only 4 screws in the back although all the rest was inside a bag inside the rear cover of the set lol and also concerned the screen maybe cracked although looks ok? have you ever used rs tom just placed a online order to collect tomorrow never used them before as not trade but order seems to of gone through ok.this was the add http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/mr/1013246171

Used RS before; they're pretty decent. They have a trade counter in Leeds, but I haven't used that yet. It would be unusual for the screen to be cracked and for it to have lots of bad caps at the same time.

I havent used them (cpc is half a mile away) but I recommend them all the time to NZ & OZ and west european - no-one has ever come back and said they are no good.

Wish I could spot something like that - never thought of free on gumtree.

Now you have got me at it - there is a laptop in lanarkshire - I was looking for lancashire!!!! Best I can come up with is 45 Fat balls for birdfeed.

Any snow down coventry or leeds tom - Nothing here but I am from cumbria so have been watching with interest as it never was that bad when I lived there.

snow max was about 8 inches on the roof of my car also few drifts across some side roads when picked tv up today and sods law got a flat tyre on the way back had to unload car on side of road lol to get spare out not fun in minus weather.
gumtree freebies is always good in my opinion had all that pc stuff a short while ago aswell. also worth putting a wanted add on gumtree for non working sets at free/resonable prices.

well a small update finally got down to rs the other day to collect the caps only had 13 of the 16 i ordered in stock as wanted all panasonics so i ordered the rest from here

the bad thing still no standby light etc but on a good note got the hair dryer out and i had missed a 10uf 50v cap that was under a mound of white glue holding two parts together once heated up the set starts great screen is ok so just ordered another Panasonic start up cap i guess it is so not bad for a free set.

keep looking on gumtree and preloved this set was in the wrong section for sale not in freebies. freecycle and freegle are also good i have just emailed on a 32in lcd set sound no picture another free one just waiting to see if i get it lol.

hi guys i no loner have this actual set but has just brought another non working one i need a psu schematic for a fsp273-4f01 rev 1 as someones recapped this with what looks like maplin caps so i need to find the correct cap values for the psu so i can do a order thanks i wish i had wrote down all the capacitor details when i done the original thread psu but as usuall i didnt so now im stuck.

id imagine they have replaced with same value and uf rating(hopefully)!

just swap them out for panasonics fr/fm/fc,or another good choice

any reason to think values may be different?

well no reason really exept you can see some are supposed to be 22mm size they have used about 16mm (guess) width that is why im concerened yes i could take a chance all the voltages are correct as too be honest when i heated the board for about 4 minutes with a hair dryer it started up ok the issue this looks like it has is that if left on standby its fine it will power out of standy and work 100% ok but if unplugged the standby light will turn from red to green and do nothing no sound no pic naff all heat the psu will fire up so as you say i may find replacements to match what they fitted and i always use panasonics to be honest.i can then test the connector voltages and see what they read after the recap and see if they match the board marking i guess.

There is at least one guy selling capkits for this board ( though doesnt mention revision) He lists the uf values which might help. You know some that you used were 35v 1000uf perhaps you can work other out?

As you ordered on line did you get an email ack back that you might have kept?

guys i need help finding last to caps from cpc if possible i did not replace these in my original thread psu but im going to recap this board fully i need 33uf 50v 5mm wide and 4.7uf 50 volts these are all on the ht side of the psu can you guys help pick the ones i need i cant go more than 5mm wide as right next to heat sinks height no issue i have found the size in panasonic m series but these are just general purpose 85c ones.

you can try rubycon,united chemicon,those caps sound like start up caps





try these,pick your type and size,then run it through cpc,farnell,or rs see what they got.

dosent matter too much mix and matching as long as low esr ,and/or slightly higher voltage

morning guys i have just recapped this board with Panasonic caps fm fr fc just left the main cap as seems ok now a slight issue still. i had rebuilt the whole set back and stand etc thinking all was ok now any way set turned on ok red led standby pressed remote green led had sound but no back lights strange so put tv on bench removed all the back again turned tv on to test voltages etc set now had snow on the screen put it back together and im going to power cycle it on and off at various times if it happens again where do i start im thinking it going to be a back light on signal somewhere but is this produced by the main board or psu? also i cant seem to find a scheme for the psu pin outs fsp273-4f01 rev 1 any advice guys as i say touch wood it powers up ok at the minute but first power on black screen with sound,as i want to give this set to a friend i want it 100% working as there not local.
