    Warning: Be careful on Gumtree

    Hi

I just thought I would let you all know as I have been caught 3 times now, if you are looking to buy faulty TV's from Gumtree or any other classified ad's then be warned of people with adverts along the lines of

"Moving Abroad" "Moving House" "No longer needed" the advert will have a number starting 070, DO NOT RING THEM, they will not pick up the phone and you can be charge between 55p and £1 for the connection, the minimum is 55p and it will show up on your bill, I have just been clobbered £7 on my phone bill, I know its not a massive amount but if you keep ringing them you will be charged each time.

I do not know if this applies to everywhere but certainly does in the UK

You cant even buy faulty TV's now without someone out there trying to con us.

I don't buy any TVs from people "moving abroad"; I've always thought of it as a little dodgy. Very shifty -- perhaps they should limit to mobile numbers & local numbers only on Gumtree? Then again I also use a prepaid mobile plan which does -not- support dialing premium rate numbers.

        Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Acer VN7-571G - turning off by itself without warning and doing a restart
        by noTurner
Hi. I'd like to ask something about one of my laptops, the "VN7-571G", which is behaving abnormally. It turns on and I can use it for a while. I upgraded the hardware of the laptop to be more responsive and reliable, but it turns out that it's not reliable at all. It originally had 8GB of RAM, a 1TB hybrid SSHD and a WiFi 5 card. I upgraded the RAM to 16GB, installed a 128GB SSD and instead of the SSHD, I installed a normal 2TB HDD for files. So far so good. Then I cleaned up the fans and replaced the thermal paste with some fresh Arctic MX-4. Proceeded to upgrade the WiFi card and installed...

Hp Elitebook 820 G1 "warning!! machine is not in committed state"
        by darksideofthemoon
        Hi,
I bought a new motherboard for my HP Elitebook 820 G1 but the warning error appears when I turn it on"
warning!! machine is not in committed state"
I realized that since it was a virgin card, some data was missing... I took it from the notebook's plate and inserted it with a tool found online but the error remains. I can't find the BUILD ID (not even on the partsurfer site). Is there a way to recover it? I also have a bios backup from the previous card, could I recover it from there? Thanks and sorry for the bad English

        by JohnWang
I recently bought a hp workstation on marketplace. I think i got scamed. I ending up with a sample mechine? It has a QS CPU in it. But now there is a very annoying warning message every time I boot up
Is there anyway I can remove this? I see some forum post that mention about sssm.bat. But can anyone provide more detail about it?
        Thanks
