    CPTOH-0603, (AKA:PDP50x3R010) Dim screen w/Retrace specs

I have an HP model: CPTOH-0603, inside a sticker that says PDP50x3R010 so I assume Toshiba made it. I have checked all internal fuses and VA+, VB+ and the +5v feed to all boards and they are all good. This is the first plasma I have experience with so I don't know if the display itself is shot or there is a common driver board for the whole screen. The screen has specs on it full H and V so I'm guessing the Y and Z cards are working, but it's a guess. It has a very dim blue center box (non-16x9) and speckled horizontal diagonal drive lines full screen. I've given everything a close physical, no obvious problems. On the power supply board there is one blue LED when powered off and 2 when on, I don't know if that is relevant or not. Is there a posting/link that gives board layout and/voltage test/values you could share? Google seems less than useful in this regard. My user pic is a pic of the screen.. Thanks in advance..

This is an LG Plasma inside.
Is there any way to feed it video and see what it looks like?
Also, can you record a video of the fault? Hard to see with that small pic...

Well, I had a DUH moment this morning after hooking up a source to it and fiddling with the menu buttons long enough to get it to the DVI input. Anyway, you can see by the movie there is a full screen, dim, with the drive lines/retrace over the whole screen. Like I said, my first plasma experience. The HP logo is really clear when it loads, the ipod makes it look over driven but it's not. I only had a PC to connect to it in the shop so it complains about no DVI audio input but makes a full screen picture. The limit to upload is 1.9m, a little tough to get a movie in that, here is a URL to the movie:
      HTML Code:
      http://www.zinnel.net/Plasma/BootUpMovie.mp4
Thanks in advance... Attached is a screen print of the final screen after its done booting.

I'm going to say control board or main board problem, and I'm leaning more towards the main board. I saw in the video (Linux Mint?) you had it hooked up to a computer. What if you try using it on, say, one of the composite video signals? This would lower the resolution, if the erroneous lines change, it indicates a main board fault. I ask this because I noticed the pattern over the HP logo is different, although it's possible that it is just less visible on that.

Thanks for the response.. Yes, Linux Mint is based on the latest ubuntu but has a much better interface.. But I digress, The lowrez bootup movie is here:
          HTML Code:
          www.zinnel.net/Plasma/BootUpMovie2.mp4
The light you see over the HP logo screen is a reflection from the window it does look normal (except for the retrace speckles), sorry.. Anyway, same result at low rez.

I've seen the input board (the one with all the RCA jacks) called a main board and also the main logic board called the main board, I would guess you are referring to the main logic board. Yes?

OK, although it looks the same, the difference in the logo is clear -- this is almost certainly a main board problem. In this case the main board is the one with the video inputs on it and the connector which goes to the control board. If you need help locating either, you will need to post clear pictures of the chassis.

I appreciate the help.. There are 2 boards with inputs on them. The The main logic board is behind them, (pic: inside2.jpg). composite, DVI and PC connections are on the board on the bottom left, straight video and video/audio out(s) are on the right. Thanks again..

The main logic board is behind the input board on the left. If you keep clicking on the picture it zoom in pretty well.

Looks to me like the board with the VGA and DVI on it is the main board.

If you can, look for one on ebay with free shipping and a return policy. On the slim chance that the problem is something else, you might want to be able to return the board.

Well, That cured a majority of the problem. There is still some static bars when it boots and after it's up all the way. (see attached).. Any clues will be appreciated.

The main board brought back the clarity and brightness, almost there...

Hmm, that looks like you got a main board with a different defect! Perhaps the failure rate is high for this model? Did you see that same patterning on the old board?

Not at all. The old board was very dim and had the retrace lines across the whole screen. (see one of the older pictures above). I can contact the seller and return this one for replacement if you think that is the issue. Defiantly NOT a Y or Z SUS board though right?

                                    Thanks in advance..

As an aside; Erroneously I had thought, as was the case in the old analog world, that the SUS cards were akin to the horizontal and vertical driver but I'm finding the purpose of these boards is not like that at all. And, the problems they cause are not detectable as insufficient screen V&H filling.

Well, the main logic board was not it. The majority view now is a YSUS combo (includes the 2 driver boards) is the remaining problem. I ordered them from ebay from a seller that said if they don't solve it I can return them. I also get some $$ back for the old, non-working boards, if it does. I'll post the results.

                                        It's not a Y-sus issue and I doubt it's a buffer problem either.

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
                                          by Alicat
                                          Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                                          Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
                                          by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

                                          Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

Panasonic Plasma screen interference on left half of screen
                                          by Zelek11
My Panasonic Plasma model P55VT50 has started displaying "interference" on just the left half of the screen only (left when facing the screen). Sometimes it's concentrated in about the first 30 seconds after startup, then disappears. Other times it's fine at startup and then randomly does it later on. When it flashes the interference it's very quick and doesn't stay on the screen unless it flashes repeatedly in a row.

This image is a screen shot from a video I took. This is an example of the interference at its worst. Often the interference is much smaller...
