    Tiny 42" plasma Tv (PS-42D8)

    Hi all,
I'm trying to repair a "Tiny" PS-42D8 plasma tv.

The tv is stuck in standby and clicks once when power is switched on.

I removed the back cover. No obvious failed caps or fuses.
When powered on two green lights on the main board light up then one switches off and a red light comes on leaving one green and one red light on.

The power board is a Samsung part No. : IP-423-SSA LJ44-00061A

Was working fine until it decided to go into coma mode...

    Any ideas guys?

    Thanks

    Regards

    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

It could be a number of things causing it to shut down prematurely. Things that come to mind are bad buffer ICs, fault on the power board.

Please add clear pictures of the whole chassis and closeups of PSU and other boards.

With the 42" plasma that I am working on now, I was able to unplug the Y Sustain power connection and then the TV would stay powered up. (with everything plugged in, got about same results you have).

      Hi martyparish,

I currently have a 42" Plasma SD Tiny TV. Same power board and same issue.

If you could help that would be greatly appreciated. Please ask what ever it is you need.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

        Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

        Hi everyone!
I happened several times, in the search for help from the web, to consult this very interesting forum.
So I decided to sign up and I intend to participate actively by making available my knowledge and experience on the subject, I'm a new user but at the same time I'm old in the sense that I have 4 decades of experience in repairing and designing electronics but above all I'm a great passionate about the subject.

Having said that I come to the gist of my post on the forum as the title suggests.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

        Assuming...

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
        by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...
