Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild
I just talked with Panasonic and their local certified repair shop. Even though it's over a year out of warranty, the repair guy said panny usually covers the cost of parts and maybe even some of the labor which the latter my be around $75. There are alot of maybes involved but this maybe the cheapest option.Last edited by Robb; 11-23-2013, 02:13 PM.Comment

Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild
I accidently typed Q461 and meant to type Q661. Unfortunately, that's the only one I am finding on ebay.
Any idea where to get the other parts?:
Q16402 DG3D5020CSLW TRANSISTOR 1 DG3D5020
Q16421 DG3D4020CSRP TRANSISTOR 1 DG3D4020
Q16422 DG3D4020CSRP TRANSISTOR 1 DG3D4020
Q16452 B1JAEP000012 TRANSISTOR 1 GT45G128
D421
D422
D16482 B0FACP000003 DIODE 1 RFN25TM4SW
Or do I have to buck up and buy a $150 refurbished board?
Search them .
DG502LW, DG402RP ,45G128
As for the diodes, I never found that one, did a dodgy and used a 300v 20A Fast recovery Diode on the last board, but that's a 400v diode. A very cheap SS board from the same tv will yield some useful bits including some diodes you could get away with or order direct from sears or CCE, whoever sells OEM , won't be cheap.
I had one from a SS but killed it and the 45G128 trying to work out what I'd missed.
List the part number against the location, whatever is stamped on the device will do.
I've seen SS boards go for $10.
You've seen the parts lists, if you're confident fault finding and soldering surface mounted have a go with the view you may fail and blow $$.
I can't help much more than what you can read through yourself in this thread.Comment

Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild
I am about to attempt a rebuild of a TNPA5081AK. Before I begin research and part order, could I use an AP,AF or AY to replace my blown AK ?

Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild
Rev AY, as this is a 3D model, the others are 2D. I've only fixed the 2D versions so there are some component changes on the board. You'll find vacancies in certain locations. A schematic or parts list comparison between the 2 types will highlight them.Comment

Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild
Just checked ModusLink PTS and they charge $131.91 for repair / test
of my TNPA5081AK / TXNSC1LTUU . I am now leaning towards that option.
What about the SD & SU boards....they are less than $50.00 each ( new ).
Does anyone have the training manual for TC-P50VT25 ? SM ?
I think there is a service hint or two for 2009 & 2010 Pana Plasma....Comment

C0JBAB000916 is a Toshiba, TC74VHC14FK(EKJ), VSSOP, Hex Schmitt Inverter
I've seen these on SC,SS, D (2010 3D models), C and A boards.
If they used the next size up they'd be a lot easier to source and sub.Last edited by tw2005; 04-17-2014, 07:35 AM.Comment

Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild
It's been a while since I worked on these boards. My customer bought repair kit from Shopjimmy for his TCP50G25 and now I'm installing it for him. Board version is AF. Here is list of parts in this kit:
Q660
Q661
IC501, 521
IC771
D451
D702
D482
Q701
Q421,422
R402,403,421,422
D641,642
Q452
Q402,403
PC461
And last but not least Q818, and I have question about this transistor
As you can see in pics, original one is smaller and marked KN, replacement in the kit is little bigger and marked K72
I still don't have a schematic for this sustain and don't know anything about these devices, are they interchangeable or is it a mistake by someone who assembled the kit? By the way original q818 measures fine, at least same as on my other working board version AL
Also some of the parts were fine on the board, mainly resistors, D641,642 RF2001, D451 they survived, but I replaced them just in case
Oh! Almost forgot, HA inverter was not on the kit!!!!! And it was bad, of course, luckily I have plenty of them in stock
I have not plugged board in yet
Any thoughts tw2005?Comment

I think SJ is just copy catting other kits and not basing them on their own research.
A rather big mistake omitting the schmitt inverter in my opinion as this will result in Q661 blowing and most likely the other small transistors .
If I was going to leave a part out, PC461 would be it but one of mine was shot.
Q818 is a bit tricky checking in cct. Original is a 2SK3018T106,however the K72 is a 2N7002 and will sub but yes is a larger package. That's what I used on the ones that were bad only because it was easier for me to get but soldering it will be a small compromise.
I would err on the side of caution unless you're 100% happy because on my really bad board, I thought it measured ok initially but found a descrepancy down the track which caused me a lot of grief blowing Q661 a few times.
Or remove from cct and check with a good one. If you have a replacement, just as quick to replace it I reckon.
Pretty much anything wrong in the inverter cct or the small 0.1A 5V reg that feeds it if bad will destroy Q661.
Q660 was ok on my 3 boards.
For CCT diag for this one at least, just download the relevant Service Manual. It's all in there, you'll get a better idea of why .Comment

Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild
Success!!!!
TV fired up fine, I was on cloud nine, customer had to pull me down
But before I delivered it, I decided to check one more time and here they were, I missed pair of 30f125's, sure enough they were not included in the kit.
So, I'm thinking what was the reason I had no success on previous repairs on these sustains? Was it Q818, was it opto coupler, IC771 or was it D702? I have not replaced them before. Q818 out of cct measured strange, reading was kind of running up to .550, not instantaneous like on the new one, so I think it was leaky, as for coupler, reading was slightly off, as well on others by a bit too.
All in all kit came handy, was missing key components, but we already know about them anyway, right?
By the way do you know specs on DG402RP and DG502LW? Could come handy one dayComment

No 30F125, well that's another cockup then. I'll go with Q818, my opto was obvious , had short but that was only 1 board of the 3.
Yeah it's a bit of a thrill with so many bad bits to jag it. Heaps of kits and repair services now for this one. Prices are still high although Moduslink are ok but weird how an AP and AF somehow cost different to repair?
With the other parts were they identical to OEM? More interested in the OPTO and it's markings and any of those TO220 packaged diodes if supplied.
I guess you did not photo the kit before install?
Blindly trusting a kit is a risk for sure. To make the kit complete you'd need quite a few parts. GTV Watford would most likely have the most accurate kit in the UK but a bit pricey.Last edited by tw2005; 05-15-2014, 01:05 AM.Comment

Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild
No, I did not take pics, bummer!
Some of TO220 components looked aftermarket with thin pins, I was even afraid to brake them while bending for install, I just don't remember which ones. Q661 was substituted by RJP63F4A FYI
So in case I'm short on DG402, which currently I am, is it OK to sub them with DG502's?
I would recommend sourcing parts individually, I usually get small components like HA inverter, 3Y marked transistors or micro SMD diodes directly from Panasonic, they are inexpencive and OEM quality. As for TO220 I source them from IBM trading in HK, if they have what I need, or Chinese suppliers. Sometimes you get lucky and parts you get look real OEM
Once though, I ordered 30F131 SMD IGBT's from Utsource and they were horrible, package was visibly smaller then OEM, did not risk putting them in, reordered with IBM and got real dealComment

Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild
I know what you're saying about the thinner leads. I was sus too but they did work and I used UTSOURCE. So IBM trading is your tip. Are we talking internet / Ebay ,??
You could only try switching DG502 for the 402. As far as voltage and current would be no issue.
That would be a nice experiment for you and then share the results.
I'd like find some subs myself that would make it easier to get parts from conventional sources.
Did you contact UT about the parts? I suspect if any were bad they'd refund. In Ebay that's what I saw but that was a while ago.Comment

I use Ebay, it's easier to control shipments and communicate with sellers
I just got 3 or 4 from UTSOURCE, other parts in the order were fine, so I figured why to bother. But here is a pic of 2 transistors side by side, so you can see the differenceComment

Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild
That is the problem from china, fakes. I'll have to pay close attention to what UTSOURCE sends next time. I don't think all of it would be fake but that example looks bad .
also, we just had our second thread regarding TNPA5081 SJ kit no good.

This one was fairly easy, putting here for repair history.
I did not check SC2 for short but would not expect it to be with 7 blink.
IC16521 M81737FP, FET DRIVER (had an exit wound)
IC16773 TC7SH14F, schmitt inverter ic (used SN74AHC1G14DBVTG4) (shorted)
Q702 2PD601ART NXP (C3 W), (shorted)(used BC846)
Q661 RJP63F3A (shorted)
Q622 GT30F125(R) (shorted) I've reached the conclusion these have pre-bent legs , the R is thay are bent in the reverse direction
Q452 GT45G128 (shorted)
D482 RFN25TM4SW (shorted) ( Again, the R is the legs bent reverse, )
D451 RF101L4S (shorted)
With these replaced, the board is now working again, running it in my TV for testing.Comment

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

by zenHi all
Issue with this set is that after a few minutes of working , the remote control & on board functions stop working .
Current software version is 1267-10402 , which i assume is the latest available , as i cannot get set to take an upgrade.
Managed to obtain a working main board , which has same software version .
Transplanted the TSOP 48 NAND chip , IC8900 ( 29F4G08ABADA ) from the working board into the faulty board , which now is working .
This proved NAND chip is the problem , in the form of corrupt data.... -

After setting up the BIOS, the laptop displays the wrong image until Windows loads. (More precisely, it displays, but distorted, instead of the Panasonic image immediately after turning it on, it displays what is in photo #1 in the attached file) Then the image appears when Windows starts loading and then there are no problems with the screen until the reboot. If you enter the BIOS, just a black screen. If you connect an external screen, the image on it is the same as on the built-in...2 Photos
