So PS_ON does not change state either from LO (off) to HI (ON)?
It should have all the same voltage readings on post 16 as you have before, we only forcing the Inverter ON/OFF pin.

After the modification, "on/off" is now at 5.09v and "P/S on" remains at 4.71v.

OK, since you are able to get the light source for the panel to work, but if you do not see the pictures on the screen, then more indepth troubleshooting of the main board will be required, it still bothers me that the backlights does the 2-second to black because it should stay on. You may have more than just the main board problem.

The most unusual behavior is the unit does the 2-second to black without a power button push. It happens as soon as I plug the unit into the wall. And sometimes it does it without the red standby led lighting at all.

I've been three for three so far in repairing the 32" LCD televisions I brought back from the transfer station, an LG, Toshiba and a Vizio. This Insignia seems to be plagued with issues. It's been a good learning tool but it seems it will probably cost more to fix than it is worth. It's about to get flung back into the trash heap.
