Vizio VX32L vertical thick bar on the display

    Hi,
I got this TV which had been messed with by somebody else.
As you'll find in the pictures somebody messed up the board while trying to remove the u33 1117 regulator and ripped the pad along with one cap next to it.
I managed to install a new regulator and cap.

You'll see in the pictures before and after of the display. Before doing the repair the set would come up black with the vertical bar. After the repair the set comes up blue with normal video but with the vertical bar still.

When I was checking I noticed that the LVDS cable that connects the tcon board and the main board was a little messed up. It had a black wire desoldered and I soldered it back.

Could this be a panel problem or is should I focus on the tcon board and/or cable?

It looks to be a bad panel but for giggles you could clean the 2 cables that go from the panel to the tcon board but i wouldn't hold my breath.

I've seen this before, and it's usually a bad panel.

Vizio VX32L vertical thick bar on the display

I have a 32in Vizio LCD VX32L with constant black lines on the screen. Do you guys think this is a bad inverter or t-con board? Or bad LCD panel?
I have attached a pic...any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Most likely a bad LCD screen, but if you're lucky, could be tab bondings.

Is there any way to test it out to verfiy the tabs are bad? or a fix for it?

Have a look at this video.

It's a different symptom, but the fix is the same.

Tom, I am not questioning your expertise here, I just want to add a thought. The almost perfect spacing between the bars makes me think T-con. Is it possible for TAB bonds to fail in such a perfect fasion?

It does look odd, but each bar is also a varying width. So I would consider the panel first, before the t-con. It's quite possible, for example, that one edge of each tab runs particularly hotter than the other -- leading to early failure there.

                        Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                        Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio E70-E3 Two white vertical lines
                        by brad2157
I picked up a Vizio E70-E3 for free that shows Vizio logo and then goes to a black screen. Original owner said he started having wifi issues and then he tried to reset the TV and that's when it wouldn't boot up any longer after his reset attempt. I picked up a replacement main board from eBay that matches the same model # board as the original from the TV.

Original main board - Shows Vizio logo when TV powers on, then goes to black screen. Doesn't boot up. No screen issues with any lines on start up Vizio logo.

Replacement main board - Boots up fine, but starting...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                        by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                        Assuming...

                        by viking509
I recently replaced the led backlights with LB65041 LED Backlight Strips and after putting it back together the backlights work but there are only colored vertical lines only in the center of the tv. I can see the Netflix logo (jumbled) after a minute or less the screen went dark. When I turned it on again the lines were back. Then I replaced the t-con board but the same vertical lines in the picture. My question is what is my next step? Could it be a source tab bond issue? A buffer board issue? Could I have loosened a connection to the panel when replacing the backlights? Should I replace the...

                        by tmhobadcap
I am trying to help my friend to fix his Vizio tv with a vertical line on the screen. The line is on the right side. It is blue/purple on the right side starting from the top. But it only goes to about 3/4 of the screen height (not to the bottom of the screen). It is very obvious when the screen is dark and it is hard to be seen when the screen is bright. Please help....
