    Dynex DX-L22-10A -- At First No Power, Now Picture is Washed Out

    The TV was completely dead at first, and when I opened it up there were several blown caps. In the picture you will see 10 blue capacitors, those are the new ones. After replacing those the TV now turns on and functions normally however the picture appears faded/washed out. Turning the brightness up or down seems to do nothing at all.

    I actually just now, while writing this and uploading pictures, noticed that there is a single cap on the main board that is the same as those that I replaced on the power board. I have one of these, which I learned after buying it apparently isn't very useful for testing capacitors. Would I be able to get an accurate measurment in this case? I set it on 2000uF (the cap is 25v 1000uf) and hooked it up, it started reading at just under 400 and slowly increased until it evened out around 530.

    Also here are the readings off of the power board:
    BON = 4.66v
    PWM = 3.39v
    GND = -0.01v
    12V = 12.13v
    32V = 0.00v
    5VZ = 5.00v
    5VS = 5.00v
    PON = 4.52v

    Please list the brand and series of the capacitors used for replacement. Inadequate capacitors can cause a variety of symptoms.

        Ugh, wouldn't touch them with a ten-foot pole. Never heard of them, so I do not trust them.

          You live in the USA with access to reputable distributors like digikey, mouser, badcaps.net, etc. With digikey, USPS 1st class shipping will be around $3 for caps and you get it within 2-3 days.

          Why deal with capacitors on ebay when 95%+ are fake?

          Just get Panansonic low ESR FR, FM and FC series.

              That is analog tuner voltage, may not be present if it only has digital tuner.

                Hey so I'm a bit of a newbie, and a little lost on how to order from Digikey. I assume these are aluminum capacitors, right? Do I order off of the product index? I don't know what I need outside of capacitance and voltage. The options for ripple current, ESR, impedence, etc have me completely lost.

                    I want to go ahead and replace all of the through-hole caps on this board however there is one that I absolutely cannot find the datasheet on. It a 10uf 25v capacitor manufactured by Changzhou (Chang), and the series is CD81. Would it be possible to assume safe values for a replacement capacitor?

                      If you cannot find a datasheet for it, just use Panasonic FC.

                        Alright I've replaced all of the cheapo caps with good ones and replaced two more caps on the power board along with one on the input board. It still does the exact same thing (color is washed out; with no video input the screen is more of a gray than a black like it would be normally).

                        I'll be testing voltage regulators next.

                          It sounds to me like it has Gamma problem due to bad power supply in the T-CON board.

                            Alright, I attached too pictures. The first one is the TV in question. The second picture is of a smaller but similar model TV that is in good working condition, taken with the same camera in order to compare the coloration of the two.
